Hi I just Bought a LG 37LD450 TV . How do connect it to the surround sound on my Harman Kardon AVR 225 Reciver. It Looks like the only option for outputs from my TV is a Fiber Optic outlet. I Don1t see any RCA outputs> I have the optic cable Thanks Bob

Yes, you are correct: the only audio output this LG tv has is an optical/TOSLINK one. Just use a fiber cable between the tv and the HK. You use this connection to play on the HK the sound from the tv channel - they selected to use this type of connector because modern HD channels have 5.1 sound while the tv and its possible RCA output connectors are just stereo.
You connect the DVR this way: an S-Video cable and a TOSLINK between the DVR and HK , and an single RCA Composite (yellow) video cable between the HK and the LG tv.

Hi,
You don't output from the tv to the receiver to get surround sound. you would either output from you cable/satellite box and/or your dvd player to the surround sound via the optical. Then you can from the monitor out on the receiver to the input on the tv. If you need any further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Harman Kardon AVR 154 OSD setup screen wont display

It will only display via component. Your HDMI firmware is either 1.1 or 1.2 and has HDCP issues (High Definition Copyright Protection) it's a firmware problem that has been fixed on all new receivers, not just a HK issue, all receivers! the new version 1.3a and 1.3b have fixed the issue. Unfortunately you cannot update the firmware on the receiver. Hope this explains it for you, sorry! Lot's of angry people out there!!! myself included.

Humming noise

Usually Humming noises come from frequency interferance.  In this case it is being caused by your input sources.  A smiply solution is to replace the cables and or seperate the source cables away from any electircal cords or sources.
