My internet connection keeps dropping out with my new WL adapter. I installed a new Trendnet Router at the same time. The main computer seems to be working fine, but my wireless connection is worse than with my 5 yr old Microsoft adapter. Any help?

1)Open NETWORK CONNECTIONS from CONTROL PANEL
2)Right click on the connection and select PROPERTIES.
3)There should be a tab for WIRELESS NETWORKS.
4)Find your network by name near the bottom and click REMOVE.
5)Click ADD then you will need to enter your network information manually in the window that pops up. You will need to uncheck the box that says "My key is provided automatically"

SSID is the network name.
NETWORK KEY - This is the important one. get it wrong and click OK and when you go back in to modify it Windows screws up and saves it wrong. You can enter network keys in ASCII (typed letters) or the HEX that the router converts the key into. 5 ASCII/10 Hex is for 64 bit, 13 ASCII / 26 HEX is for 128 bit. Your key must be one of these 2 lengths.

I use the Asus WL-330ge as a network adapter for my HP Printer. This worked perfectly until I switched internet providers. I changed the IP on my printer to the same subnet as my new wireless router...

Let me state how I think you have this setup
Printer is Ethernet ---------- Ethernet (WL-330GE wireless adapter)
WL-330GE adapter >>>>>> Wireless >>>>>> New Router

eth_adapter_mode-d2r1efs5ntrf2rjwzg4ldeyi-5-0.jpg Diagram and mode is from
https://www.asus.com/Networking/WL330gE/HelpDesk_Manual/
ASUS WL-330gE user's manual in English

So I think you need to use Ethernet Adapter Mode !

The computer shown would be your printer
As you are using wireless you need to set up the wireless ssid and the wpa or wep encryption to match the new router I am guessing .
in section 4.3 advanced settings in the above manual link from ASUS.
Also the access point has an ip address by default as 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 you would have to most likely have 176.16.1.2 and the new router as 176.16.1.1 and the same subnet mask what ever it is maybe it is 255.255.255.0 then make the printer 176.16.1.5 subnet 255.255.255.0 or whatever subnet you use.
Make sure you log into the new router and alter the DHCP server to assign leases from 176.16.1.10 to 176.16.1.254 with same subnet mask.

We havea TRENDnet Wireless AP TEW-430APB - keeps dropping wireless

It can drop signal if there are other devices working in 2.4GHz band interfering with it. Try to switch over to 5GHz band.

Installed Trendnet wireless adapter. Connection shows excellent but can't browse internet

The "excellent" is the signal-strength between your wireless adapter
and your wireless router.
You still need to select the SSID ("network name") that you configured into the router, and enter the password for your network, before you can connect to the Internet.
Compare it to having a brand-new mobile telephone. Until you dial a friend's number, and the friend answers, all you have is an "excellent" telephone.

Trendnet router

I know you've heard this many times by now, but disconnecting the power from the router for about 30 seconds then reconnecting power should work. Obviously not. If your Xbox and laptop are doing the same, then it's not a computer problem; we can narrow it down to the router, the modem, or the internet connection itself (whether it be DSL or Cable). You may end up having to throw money at the problem and purchasing a new router. I'd recommend an 802.11n router from Linksys. If you're not willing to shell out money, even if you are, you should really try the Trendnet web site or giving them a call. You may just need to update the firmware. Try starting with Trendnet since the problem can be narrowed down to your router. Please let me know what happens.

WL 520 GC can only acess net in "default" before encrypting

To enable WEP encryption requires configuration changes in two places the router (WL-520G) and for the network adapter on the associated with the computer expecting to use the wireless router. Do you both believe you made the appropriate changes to both devices required? The router and the computer

Another possible issue is either the router or the network adapter do not support WEP meaning the option is not possible at all.
