SOURCE: IP address Problem when connecting to xbox 360 live

i had the same problem buddy. The problem might be that you hacve another system on the wireless network that uses that same IP address. This can cause a conflict that will prevent the xbox from logging on. Try deactivating other systems on the network to see if thats the problem

SOURCE: cant connect to xbox live with vzaccess!! please help...

You have two options. Number 1, plug the 360 into a LAN port on your PC and set up the LAN connection to share the internet with the VZaccess connection. This will work as long as you are connected through vzacess manager.

Option number two, get an EV-DO router, wireless or wired, and use it to connect the xbox.

If using option 1, you may have to struggle at first with the IP settings. Make sure the LAN connection AND the 360 are set up to configure IP and DNS automatically. And make sure that you set the sharing options to include http and such. more help can be found by searching in Windows Help for ICS (internet connection sharing)

I have just got in broadband but my xbox aint picking up my wireless signal upstairs, ive got the wireless adapter for the xbox, its picking up a few neighbours network connections, surely my xbox should be...

It is possible that the Xbox will be unable to pick up the wireless signal being transmitted by your gateway because the signal is too weak.

The connection speed of your internet has nothing to do with the strength of the signal. The best way to test this would be to try to connect to your wireless internet on a laptop while sitting near the xbox. If you cannot, you will know that the signal isn't powerful enough to reach that location.

There are three common options to amplifying your signal if necessary.

1) Purchase a High-gain antenna for your wireless gateway
2) Purchase a wireless repeater
3) Purchase a new router/gateway with a longer range capability. A "Wireless N" enabled router would be optimal for this application.

Setup your Xbox to a Wireless Network

Xbox game consoles can be connected <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> to a router<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/routers/g/bldef_router.htm"></a> for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live. Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network.<br /><br /> <ol> <li>Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter<a href="http://compnetworking.about.com/od/hardwarenetworkgear/g/bldef_adapter.htm"></a> to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet sometimes also called a wireless network bridge must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi <i>game adapters</i> that connect to a USB port.<br /><br /></li> <li>Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Advanced -&gt; Wireless -&gt; Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -&gt; Network Settings -&gt; Edit Settings."<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)<br /><br /></li> <li>Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. How to get an internet connection for xbox live

Hello award ward,

To get a wireless internet connection for Xbox live, you will need a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL and a router, gateway, or wireless access point (WAP) that is compatible
with Xbox live. If your XBOX360 console is first generation, you will also need a Xbox 360 wireless networking adapter. If you are using a wired connection, you will need a network cable. Plug the network cable into your router and the other end into your Xbox 360. On your Xbox 360 console, navigate to "MY XBOX" and then select "system settings" Next select "Network settings" and then select "Test Xbox Live connection" Select YES when the prompt appears asking you to update your software. After you become connected, there are two choices: Free membership of Gold membership. How do i hook my mi-fi internet to the xbox 360? i have purchased an adapter and can not figure out how to get the internet working

Here's how to configure your wireless settings:
  1. On the console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. If you are prompted to select a wireless network, complete these steps, otherwise skip to step 4.
    1. Select the name of your wireless network.
    2. Enter your wireless network password and select Done.
    3. The console will automatically try connecting to Xbox LIVE. If you get an error message, go to the following webpage for help: support.xbox.com/pages/xbox-live/troubleshoot/connection-issues/connect-xbox-live.aspx (http://support.xbox.com/pages/xbox-live/troubleshoot/connection-issues/connect-xbox-live.aspx)

Note If you do not see the name of your wireless network, select Advanced Options. Then select Specify Unlisted Network and enter your wireless network name. Select your wireless security type (WEP, WPA, WPA, or No Security). This security type needs to match the security of your wireless network.

  4. Select Configure Network.
  5. On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Mode.

Note If wireless mode is not available and you are using the black Wireless N Networking Adapter, try using the software installation disc included with the adapter. For more information about how to do this, please see the following article: 977641 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977641/ ) How to set up the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter
  6. Select Scan for Networks.
  7. Select your wireless network name.

If your network is not listed, try the following:
    1. Select Specify Unlisted Network, and enter your wireless network name (also referred to as your Service Set Identifier [SSID]).
    2. Select your wireless security: WEP, WPA, WPA2, or No Security (if your network doesn't have a password).

If you can't connect to your wireless network, try improving your wireless signal using the tips in the following article: 909336 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909336/ ) Your Xbox 360 console receives a weak wireless signal
  8. Enter your wireless network password, and then select Done.

Note Make sure that you have entered the correct password. An incorrect password might allow your console to connect to your wireless network, but you might receive an IP address error when you test your Xbox LIVE connection.

  9. Press B on your controller, and then select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

I just bought this router and am trying to get it connect with a Verison wirelss USB mobile broadband. How can I connect it to my computer and an Xbox 360?

For Verizon i found that Currently, the DIR-412 Mobile Broadband Wireless Router is the only D-Link router that is 3G compatible. The DIR-412 supports 3G USB adapters complying with HSUPA/HSDPA/EV-DO/TD-SCDMA networks and works with most major cellular carriers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Rogers, Telus, Bell, etc).
D-Link routers empower gamers to easily connect their Microsoft Xbox to network and experience lag-free online gaming. All you need is a D-Link router to go along with your broadband connection and Xbox Live subscription and you can go head to head with friends and adversaries from around the world.

The D-Link DI-624 Wireless Broadband Router, DI-614+ Wireless Broadband Router, and the D-Link DI-604 Broadband Router have all passed the tests for compatibility with Microsoft Xbox Live with specific firmware. Just download the specific compatible firmware listed below to your D-Link router before connecting to Xbox Live.

  • Click here to upgrade your firmware.
  • Click here for Xbox Live setup instructions with a router.
  • For Xbox Live support, please visit www.xbox.com.
