Did you try starting in neutral? Some vehicles have electronic transmission lockouts that will go bad and prevent ignition cycling even when it is not in gear.

I hadn't charged my Sony Vaio model PCG-61611L for a couple days. Then when I finally plugged it in to charge, it won't turn on. I even left it plugged in for a few days and still nothing. It has...

Try A Hard Reset

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Sony Vaio laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset.

Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord
and turn your laptop on.

If that does't work try removing ram and reinstall. Sometime this works with these laptops.

I have an Acer Aspire 5517 laptop. No problems at all until a few days ago when it stopped charging. Replaced the charger and battery, and still won't charge. Even flashed BIOS, Help!

Check the pronges inside the battery compartment. They will be like copper plated if they are not loose or broken then it may be a motherboard issue.

That error code is indicative of a primary battery permanent failure. There may be a connector problem but not likely. Your best bet is to replace the battery.

If you are uncertain, try finding someone in your vicinity with the same type of laptop as yours and ask if you could test their battery on your computer.

A few months ago my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop started saying that my battery could not be detected. I bought this laptop new in October 2007 and did not extend my warranty. I bought a new battery and...

Normally the message means that the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. There is a chance the new battery you got was defective and went bad before its time.

The motherboard can be the problem, although it is not common for this to be the case.

I would try one more battery before thinking about a new motherboard, a new battery is under a $100 where a new mobo is several hundred, and usually this is a sign of a bad battery. If you disconnect the ac adapter and it stays on then it is using the battery, although it is reporting that it cannot see a charge. I would guess the battery malfunctioned and is not being able to be read by the laptop.

Laptop won't power on

A few things to try:
First remove the battery from the laptop plug in the power adapter and see if it powers up without the battery in. If this works there is a problem with the battery or the battery driver. If it works login go to device manager and disable the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. If battery works then it was the driver if still fails its a dead battery.
Try with just the battery it is probably dead though as its had no power to charge it.
Check if the power adapter has a light on it some have lights that indicate its receiving power. Also check if the lights on the laptop to say the battery is charging even though you indicated it isnt.
Let me know how you go or if you need further help.

Power

It sounds like a mother board problem since you upgraded the bios and got different results. Try plugging in the adapter and warming it up. Will the computer run without the battery? that will also let you know if it's the battery.

My initial thought was that your AC adapter may have a heat problem or failing after a while. Wrap it in plastic and put it in ice and see if it lasts longer. If you have the same problem there are other issues going on in the computer power system.
