I fill my washer and start it to washing and the dial does not move and I have to move it and turn it to rinse and then to spin. I have to babysit it but I can get it through a cycle.

If it will perform all of the functions if you turn your timer knob manually, I would open the console and check for any loose connections, although from your description your timer motor has gone bad (only availible as the whole timer) It can be purchased from online from the manufacture or from a local parts store.

My washer has a similar problem. Water fills but the spin cycle does not start. I have to either shake the waher or pull and push the knob several times before it starts to spin. Changed timer and knob but it did not help.
Problem started after movers move it to my new home.
