Weak coffee Until this past week our Bunn worked great, however, suddenly it began producing very weak coffee with 5 scoops of fine coffee. Nothing changed in our coffeemaking, though we tried different approaches, but without success. What makes the machine suddenly quit making adequately strong coffee? We use it daily. Couple of ideas.

Your weak coffee could be due to the machine not getting hot enough, which is usually caused by calcium scale buildup on the heating element (the "burner").

Try descaling with a citric-acid based cleaner, such as Dezcal or Durgol.

The second is the coffee your using is a weak blend. Try changing to a different coffee and see if the strength is better.

It may not be getting hot enough you have to have it at the correct brewing temp..

4. Funnel Loading-The BUNN paper filter must be centered in the funnel and the bed of ground leveled by gentle shaking.
5. Water Temperature- Place an empty funnel on an empty
dispenser beneath the sprayhead. Initiate a brew cycle and check the
water temperature immediately below the sprayhead with a ther-
mometer. The reading should not be less than 195F (91C). Adjust
the control thermostat to increase the water temperature. Replace if necessary.

Check programming.This is very simple;turn switch on and hold brew switch until you here 3 clicks to start brew timer .When desired level is reached turn off on/off switch on front panel to set brew time.Check brew level now.

clean with CLR and then water rinse....use DRIP fine grind
1 tablespoon per cup..........remember strength is the coffee and the amount of water.

After reviewing troubleshooting diagrams, I really couldn't find a solution to your problem.

The only thing I can suggest is to use 2 oz per pot of coffee grounds. Your 5 or 6 scoops assuming they are one ounce each is way more than enough.

Look under where your basket goes. Most bunn coffee maker has a flavor guard on the downspout. this down spout actually helps distributes the water over the whole basket of coffee grounds. Most of the time I see these missing, and when they are gone, they are gone.

Use less water for the amount of coffee you are using first. Sadly when there is not enough water, the coffee tastes bitter. Too much water tastes weak. Hot water extracts certain elements out of the beans even after grinding.

Always use a fresh paperfilter designed for your coffee maker.
