This answer did NOT help. My helper? U-Tube. Solution, that worked: For safety unplug printer. On the BACK side of printer on the left press tab to remove a panel and reveal jammed paper. Pull jammed paper carefully and slowly out. Take a second look, to make sure that all torn parts of paper are removed as well. Close door plug in printer and viola back in business.

HP C4280 draws a sheet of paper into the printer, paus;es, and then gives me a paper jam message. I have followed some of the suggested remedies from web sight but no success. Found light dust on rollers...

If this has not been done yet. open up the top cover and remove the print cartridge and trays. You should then gain access to the internal parts and roller. Inspect for debris. Clean out the internal parts using isoprophyl alcohol. Let me know if this works.

As for the cartridge jam try resetting the printer. Open it up, make sure there is not jam. Move the carriage over if necessary, hit OK. Then turn the printer off. Go to your computer and remove any documents from the print queue. Then, with the computer still plugged into the printer, turn the printer on.

Turned it on and it says paper jam. There is no

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

I have a hp photosmart c4280 all in one printer and i just replaced the cartridges and now it says i have a crriage jam and with no paper in it and it won't clear

Some HP printers have a switch on the back of them that has to be reset, by opening and closing the "paper jam" door. If that doesn't work try cutting the power for a few seconds, and plug it back in.

Paper Jam

Remove all the paper from the paper tray so that nothing gets sucked up in there while you're working. Hit the cancel button a few times until the screen clears itself and goes back to the "Print", "Copy", "Scan" option screen.

On your computer, if the printer option screen is up (depending on what kind of computer you have, a small screen might pop up to tell you the print progress), hit cancel or clear on any of the lines that say "Paper jam", if there are any.

The next time you print something, only put as many pieces of paper in the feed as you need to print. This should eliminate a lot of the chance of actually getting a paper jam.

Please respond again if this didn't help. I'm not sitting in front of my own computer right now, so I might not be following the same steps that I usually take.
