Hi,

You are getting the message becuase the memory card in the camera has it's write protection on. If you take the card out you should be able to slide the tab on the card to the unlocked position. That should solve your problem.

Hope that helps, if it does please rate my help. Thanks

Locked by the written word-WRITE PROTECTED, how can I remove this and delete this and use my camera

You didn't state the model of your camera so I'm assuming it uses SD cards.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When i try to take a pic, the words "WRITE PROTECT" appears on my screen & wont let me take a pic, can you tell me why this is?

Try to format your SD card on your computer, you should be able to uncheck the write protect option, in the format menu.
Hoping for a Windows-based computer, Start > My Computer > under "devices with removable storage" right click on your SD card, choose format, options should appear.
Hope this helps...

When I turn on my camera to shot a picture, it will not let me. Instead a screen pops up that says "card write protected." What does this mean?

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
If this doesn't do it, try a different card.

It's obviously a switch problem, not a ribbon (which controls the lcd screen) problem. Start doing your research to find that "perfect" camera. Read all the reviews to see what actual owners think in addition to the experts. Or......you can "limp along" until you get tired of that.

On my DMC-TZ8 the screen says "this memory card is write -protected " how do I solve this problem , only had camera two months I have took memory card out all seems alright THANKYOU

Your memory card is either write protected or corrupted.
  • If it's write protected, it can be very easily fixed.
  1. Turn off cam.
  2. Take out the mem. card. (it's probably located near the battery. press down on it and release it. Then it will pop out.)
  3. Slide the small switch on the side of the card to the position marked with an unlocked padlock.
  4. Put card back in and turn on cam.
  • If that doesn't seem to be the problem, then it's likely that the memory card is corrupted. This is common with Flash memory that has been used extensively for a long time and this problem is likely not caused by any fault in the camera. You might not be able to access any pictures that were stored on your cam, but you can try using a data recovery software like Recuva if you want to recover pictures ( click name to download ). If you want to use the card again, You can try formatting it (differs from cam to cam, check instructions manual for specific instructions) If this doesn't work, You will have to buy a new card. Make sure you buy a good brand like Lexar or SanDisk.

That's it. hope that helped.

My moserbear 4gb pendrive is not working properly this shows that the pendrive is writr protected please solve problem please tell me the service center's of moserbear in lucknow.

Some USB memory-sticks have a "slider" type of switch.
In one position, you can write files onto the device.
In the other position, you CANNOT write files onto the device.
Move the switch to the other position.

Digital card

When this problem occur you need to set the memory card unlock or not protected. Remove the memory card from camera and you can see a small button in the memory card, so you need to slide that to set the memory card unlock or not protected.

What does write protect mean in the screen

most camera data cards have a 'write protect' slide switch on the side of them, which if it is in the 'write protect' mode, nothing can modify, or put new files onto it.
Basically what it's telling you is that you can't take pictures with that card until you pop it out and slide the switch to an 'unlock' or 'non-write-protect' position.
