Maytag mod. #med5700tq0 elec. dryer runs, inconsistent heat, high heat two days ago, little heat a few hours ago, some heat an hour ago, no heat now. Where is the best place to start?

It sounds clogged up to me. Take the exhaust hose off the wall and try it first. Another thing that happens with Maytags is that the motor shaft will **** out the center of the plastic blower and even though the motor is turning, little or no air is moving through the machine, so the high limit thermo turns the heat off

10 year old Kenmore dryer Series 80 suddenly has stopped producing heat. Vent is clean. What else can I try?

On a gas model dryer those coils seem to die when heated when they have a little age on em. So if the ignitor works and the dryer does a little bit of heating then fails and it is gas then those coils are the problem. On an electric model the element will get brittle with age and die but if your dryer is suffering from air restrictions it may have had a limit trip on it.

There is a lack of heat. It gets a little warm

Please ensure that the venting from the dryer to the outside of the house is clean and free of lint.
Ensure the venting behind the dryer is not kinked.

Long time to dry issues are usually caused by restricted venting to the outside.

Since you have heat this may solve the problem.

so long as its heating a little, try removin g the venting, and see if there an improvement. a clogged vent will greatly reduce if not stop all heat . dont forget to check where venting exits the home outside also becomes clogged
