I know. My ds says updating, everything is plugged in, but it just says searching for ds. Grrrr!

  • Anonymous May 18, 2009

Yep, same thing happens to me. It started when I accidentally unplugged the cord while I was updating-- I admit, not a very bright thing, even if it was an accident. Ever since, when I turn on my DS with AR connected to the computer, nothing shows up. :(

Well i had the same problem but i know how to solve this, at first when i plugged in the AR to the computer and press the update button on the DS, it wouldnt work and it would ust please connect... meanwhile on the AR manager it says, waiting for .... DS, the way i solved it is to unplug, not from the DS, but from the computer the USB and put it in to another one.... after that a window came up, u have to install itand then go on Ar manager, there should be something in the other window that says, NDS. this is where u drag the cheats... hope i helped :)

Yay! This isn't too old of a topic! I'm not bumping! X-P
Okay, I've had my ARDS for a long time... or long for me, a year and a half... X-P
I saw some troubleshooting tips... haven't really helped so far. 90% of the memory was used for one game, because it's the only one that is worth cheating on. X-P I decide to hook it up to my PC to get more codes... I connected it as it was, and it never loaded. It acts like it's looking for the DS and is loading what's on there... but I have left my DS on and hooked up to the computer overnight and it still hadn't loaded. I decided to try again in the morning. I look for possible solutions, and one was to reset the hardware (A+B+Start+Select). I've done that, and it is still not being detected by my computer. =-/ Any help?
I hope to God it isn't because I downgraded and got Vista. X-P

People this isn't vista's fault. I own a action replay ds and it was connecting fine nothing was wrong. Until I typed in a code for my animal crossing ds and after it was typed in the whole action replay ds froze. I shutdown ds and started it back up without my animal crossing ds game and it loaded but wouldn't work with animal crossing ds. I deleted the game out and tried to connect it by USB cable to computer but my computer said the usb malfunctioned and can't be reconized. I reset my whole AR and still it doesn't reconize. So I know it isn't vista's fault. What do u see wrong with vista. It runs better than XP. Oh and my AR has black places on the back of the AR were the gold looking plates are.

Pokenerd it is because you went to Vista.
So far Action Replay is only compatible with XP.
Which might answer some of your problems too.

Action replay doesn't let me add codes in custom code list!!!!!

Your Action Replay DS hardware may require resetting if you are experiencing any of the following problems:

* Code Manager PC software is reporting that Action Replay DS does not contain enough free space when it actually contains no codes.

* Code Manager PC software is reporting the console`s battery is low when it’s actually fully charged.

* Multicolored bars are shown on the screen after you confirm the entry of a game ID when trying to manually enter codes.

* You can use the Code Manager PC software without any problems until the Action Replay DS is connected via USB set to the update mode on the console, at which point Windows shows a run time error.

If you are experiencing any of these problems, please follow the steps below to reset the Action Replay DS hardware. Please beware that resetting the Action Replay DS hardware will not restore a default codelist, and any codes which are stored on the Action Replay DS will be erased.

1. With your console powered off insert the Action Replay DS

2. Hold down buttons A+B

3. Turn your console on

4. With A+B still held down, as soon as you see the Action Replay DS license screen press and hold down buttons START+SELECT so that you now have 4 buttons held down

5. Hold all 4 buttons down for around 10 seconds until the Action Replay DS loads to it`s home screen

6. If Action Replay DS doesn’t hold on the license screen for around 10 seconds when you do this, you may need to turn off and try again

Action replay when i plug in my ds and load code manager it says waiting for ds even though it is plugged in

IF you are running Vista 64, the issue is the driver on the disk is incompatible, thus the pc will never see the ds. However, I have found a workaround. First make sure the DS is on and plugged in and the Action replay Manager is launched. On the DS click on the mouse so it should read updating software. Then, go into device Manager via the Control Panel, there you will see NDS and an exclamation mark. Right click and choose to update the driver or properties. Then choose Browse My computer for driver software... then let me pick from a list... then fo the manufacturer shoose: Standard USB Host Controller and for the Model choose Unknown. It will pick it up instantlly. Voila.. Good Luck! and what a pain!! V

Can't get codes

I have just found the solution to the problem (2 minutes later XD)
Quote CodeJunkies' Support site:

Try resetting the Action Replay by following these steps:
  1. Insert the Action Replay into the DS
  2. While the Action Replay software is loading, press and hold all the following buttons: A + B + Start + Select.
  3. Release all of the buttons once the Action Replay is at the main menu.
The first screen should persist for much longer than normal, and when the Action Replay DS main menu loads, your hardware should be reset.

Once the reset has been performed, try connecting the USB cable to your PC, opening up the code manager software and transferring data again.

It won't return all of your games back, but it will allow you to start on a clean slate again. (Using the update feature will bring most, if not all of your games back
