For some reason my wii took a DVD and then wouldn't eject it, infact it wouldn't turn on, so took a look inside and moved on of the tray levers and managed to get the Wii started and enjected the DVD. Great, Wii working again then, but no, for some reason it won't read some games, other times it won't read any games, the DVD just stops spinning and I get the "unable to read disk" message. Most my games don't work, only Tiger Woods Golf and Cook off both of which are a bit ****.
Any suggestions as to why it's not reading the other DVDs?
I have the same problem and my CD is not scratched. at all. Only played Super Smash Bros one time and will no longer read it. When my husband was playing Mario Kart the whole system just shut off completely and it wouldn't turn back on. Im worried because I've only had the Wii for a couple of months and don't use it often. It is extremely clean of dust and there are no scratches on any of my discs. ????I have the same problem and my CD is not scratched. at all. Hi, The most common reason for the Wii not taking discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:
store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr
This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Wii including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Wii going again! Hope this will help...

Sounds like something is stuck inside of your Wii's DVD Drive... someone may have stuck something in the slot? Coins? credit card? paper? Etc... sounds like this is preventing the disc from being read properly. Either this, or something inside of the drive has become broken.
The following website sells the DVD drive mechanisms and does repairs on the Wii as well:
There is either something inside of your Wii's DVD Drive blocking the insertion of the disc, or some of the gears inside of the DVD drive are damaged. Lots of times, one of the kids will stuff a penny, credit card, or some other foreign object inside of the Wii's disc slot. The following website sells the DVD drive mechanisms and does repairs on the Wii as well:
The first step is to check the disc. If you are sure this is not aproblem with the game disc, then this is usually a problemwith either the laser inside of the Wii's drive, or some other issuegoing on inside of the DVD drive. The following website sells the DVD drive mechanisms and does repairs on the Wii as well:
When you hit eject, do you hear the motor attempting to eject the disc? If no sound at all, it could be a bad eject button. If you hear the motor of the drive attempting to eject the disc, then there is a problem somewhere inside of the Wii's
drive. The

ivetteqb - It could be a blown fuse on the drive. KA433133 - You need to open your Wii and check that there is nothing preventing the rollers from turning and the disc holding mechanism and cog wheels also free to operate. Make sure the metal 'cage', where the cd/dvd goes in, is not misshaped. There is just so much that can go wrong with the DVD, that I could go on and on. It is quite a complicated piece of kit. Guest - Could also be a blown fuse on the drive and/or a weak laser.
