My TH-50PZ80U has developed a vertical black bar, about 3 inches wide, at the far left margin of the screen. How do I get rid of it?

I have the same problem which happened at the end of NOV. I called Panasonic and brought in to the shop that repairs Panasonic's and it is the Panel, the TV is JUNK.

I have a TH50PZ800U, 27 months old, same problem. 2-3 " bar on left side, took it to a Panasonic authorized service center and they told me the plasma display is bad, $2300 parts, $300 labor, for a tv that cost me $1900 new.

Anybody else in this situation. I have a call in to Panasonic executive level via customer relations, claim (complaint) logged. Are they standing up to their claims that these tv displays have a half-life of 100000 hrs? Mine is at worse case about 11.5% used up, but is actually toast.

Is there any hope for help from Panasonic?

I have the same situation. My TH50PZ800U is 24 months old and have a vertical bar of 2 to 3" wide. Sears service person tell me that I have to replace the panel that cost about $700. I will call to log a complaint too.

There is a vertical black bar along the left side of my TV. It started as a thin yellow/white bar and has grown to be about 2 or 3 inches wide, blocking that portion of the screen.

The LCD wafer has gone bad, and more lines will begin to appear over time. It can be replaced but the cost may be comparable to replacing the entire television.

The screen has colored vertical lines and becomes to a dark black band about 6 inches of width. The tv is exactly two years old by today.

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further solution updates will be on my Facebook page.

Black vertical bar starts 11" from left, approx 3" wide and goes from top to bottom. Replaced TNPA4441 board, no fix. Disconnected ribbon to that section of plasma screen and bar turns white with color...

Since you've replaced the C2 buffer board and didn't fix it. It's very unlikely but possible that the D board is defective. Visually inspect the solder joints on the D connector or try to press slightly on it; if pressing the connector works then there is a loose or cold solder joint on the D connector.
The screen should be replace since still under warranty. The price for a new screen might exceed the price of the plasma, even if you pay for labour still something to decide whether to fix or not.
Try contacting panasonic and ask them nicely if they would be willing to cover the labour cost as well.
Good Luck.
