DVD region is an anti-piracy method to block DVDs from other countrys to be played on a region where that DVD isn't available for selling. You still can watch that DVD by changing the DVD Player region code from options but be aware that you have a limited number of changes, after changes reach 0 you cannot change DVD region code anymore and your DVD player will be stucked to a certain region that you selected.
In general, DVDs will play only on DVD drives that use the same region country codes. For example, if you live in the United States or Canada, you are in Region 1. You can play Region 1 DVDs only on a DVD drive that is set for Region 1. If you try to play Region 2 titles on a Region 1 DVD drive, you will receive an error message.
So if you want to play the region-locked DVD disc content, you can copy a region-free DVD and then you can play the copy on your region-limited Sony DVD Player. You can get a DVD copy without region code using Leawo DVD Copy. This tool can deal with different kinds of protected DVD discs.
