I have a 3com 4500 connected to 2 5500s (A & B), which are the the GWs for the 4500. I issued on the 4500: ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0 192.168.0.254 preference 60 (5500 A) ip route-static 0.0.0.0 0 192.168.0.253 preference 70 (5500 B) on dis ip routing-table verbose, both routes appear but the preference 70 shows as inactive. The idea is, if .254 goes down, the 4500 would find the preference 70 route to keep its work but, in practice this is not happening. If I turn off .254, my machines on the 4500 loose connectivity. How can I make this work? i.e. make both routes active?

From your scenario what i guess is the two 5500's (A&B) are connected to each other also. Thats why the link between B&4500 is remaining down due to STP ( to avoid Network loop).
Please correct me if I am wrong.

What is the status of the link connecting 4500 to 5500 B when 500A is active and when 5500A is down .

If you are running STP i will suggest you to wait for 2 minutes after 5500A goes down and STP will be recalculated and the link connecting to 5500B will become active and then the route will also become active.

Best regards

Routing problem

The last part of the IP address has to be more than 10 apart. That is to say: if your first address is 193.156.36.90 then your second should be 193.156.36.100 or higher or 193.156.36.80 or lower. I like to go for 50 higher or lower then you are well out of the range of your main router.

Pix 515 E allow few websites only.

Do the nslookup for the three websites and write an access list to permit the traffic only to the said website ip addresses

Eg.

1. go to dos prompt

2. type "nslookup"

3. type "www.rediff.com

Note : You will get the ip address of the websites

4. Create an object group for these websites

5. Add ip addresses of the websites

6. create an access-control list element to permit the traffic from your circle office to this object group for port tcp 80 and 443

You are done

I want to share my internet connection with two computers while the IP given by the vendor is static(or 1 ip). So I doubt that whether using hub/routers(for single input and multiple output ports) I can do...

A router will be the best device that can share that static ip that you have from your vendor. Router's will have an option to set it's internet connectivity to static ip and you will just need to put in the static ip address, SM, Default gatewa, and DNS servers from you vendor. And the router will do the rest.
