Since you re-programmed your laptop, you need to install the driver for wireless LAN. You mentioned that you're using Win 7 now so you need to find a driver that is compatible with emachines and Win 7. But you can try to download the driver fromm emachines' website:
You have a choice of 3 different Wireless card on that model of laptop.
Atheros Broadcom or Intel. You can get a driver by searching the specific wireless car as these cards are used in a lot of different manufacturers laptops.
