My feed dog is stuck in the down position. Embroiders fine, but can't sew.I have tried the manual button, it moves back and forth, but doesn't move the feed dogs. Have cleaned the area. What next?

check that the feed button or lever is in the correct position
If it is in the centre position then the feeding foot doesn't know to go forward (normal ) or reverse
If electronic controlled the maybe a service is called for.
if you have a manual, check and see where the feed dog lever is and make sure it's in the up position. when the feed dog is in the down position it's in the darn mode staying in one place,, but when it's in the up position the machine will sew. here is a link for a manual, if you don't have a manual http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-elna-2110.aspx
Open the throat plate and bobbin area to see if thread has tangled there. Snip and remove thread with tweezers - do not yank or **** and tangles out of the machine.
look in your manual there is a switch, slide or something that will move the feed dog back to the original position, you have it in the free hand mode lij=ke for free hand embroidering or darning
I finally figured this out. The feed dog switch in the back was not hitting anything when I moved it back and forth. There is a screw on the underside of the machine that I tightened. It seemed to do the trick. Thanks.
