Just got Woods Model RAND1400 (49750) "Indoor Random Timer" from Menards. It seems to be preset to a "random" pattern of on/off times throughout a week. The instructions (essentially) say to set the day/time by turning the front dial (segmented into 7 days, day/night for each day, and a couple hour marks for each day/night). The instructions for my timer list on/off times that are different for each day, and with different durations. It seems to generally turn on/off during dark hours. A manual override switch turns power "on." Plug the timer into the wall, plug the lamp into the timer. That's it. Not very precise, but probably shouldn't be either. I got three of these things, planning to set each to a different day so they don't all turn on/off near the same time as each other. Phone number to call for further assistance: 1-800-561-4321 (M-F, 8:30am-5:00pm, Eastern time).
    Max load: 15A, 1875W Resistive, or 8A, 1000W Tungsten. 125 VAC/60Hz,
    3/4 HP, 8A Ballast (fluorescent)
    Cat: # TM261A
    Hope that helps.

Need help programing lllwoods model 50000 indoor 24 hour mechanicl timer 2-c

Copy following link to identify timer and download possible manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#50009
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#50006

If you have the digital timer, generally you can toggle DST back-and-forth 1 hour by pushing two buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. And then reverse the setting again by pressing and holding both buttons again.
Open link. Download manual. Look for 'daylight savings time' in manual. Read instructions.
You can unplug timer to make programming changes, since the timer has a carryover feature against power outage.
To restore functionality of a timer that no longer works, press reset button and then reprogram.

The Woods 50000 series are new line of timer introduced just before Christmas 2012.
Woods timers are warranted by Coleman/ Carol Cable/ Canadian tire, and I suspect the timer itself is made by Intermatic.
All these timers have standard 1 year limited warranty against workmanship defects.
I have not seen any complaints about this line of timers here at fixya.

Timer instructions.
Set current time by rotating dial until time lines up with arrowhead located on inner dial
There are segments located around dial.
Look at inner dial > segments are located just outside the inner dial.
Timer comes with segments pushed inward.
To set timer to turn ON, pull segments outward for hours you want timer ON.
All 6 outlets are controlled by timer.

Last step:
There is override switch located on inner dial.
Move switch to TIMER for timer to operate.

Have GE digital timer 15117. Can't figure out how to make the display show AM/PM so I can set it correctly. Clock hour/min just cycles through 12 hours without noting AM or PM setting. Can't program...

GE 15117 manual
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/GE-15117-Manual.pdf

You might try a new AA battery.
Some guy wrote in this week and said he bought 6 timers and all the batteries were bad except 1.

Some timers, like Woods TD1300, and others have the 12 hour or 24 hour option.
You press and hold Time button to choose 12 hour or 24 hour
But GE 15117 manual says nothing about this option.

GE 15117 timer is same timer as Woods 59403
Several folks have written in past couple weeks about the Woods 59403 timer skipping over functions.
The best I can guess is your timer is malfunctioning like the other people's timers.

Woods 59403 manual is identical to GE manual, and says nothing about 12 hour 24 hour option either
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Woods-59403.pdf

I test timers for programming and wiring difficulties.
Yesterday 3 timers arrived here, and 1 didn't work.
I took it apart and tested the electronics, and something went bad.
When these timers don't work, you get your money back or throw them away.

If this is not your timer:
Woods makes a lot of timers with more than 1 number depending on who packages and sells timer.
Here's a link to Woods timers that might help you identify:

We need clear instructions for setting the timer

Woods makes several outdoor timers:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html

Image that shows with this post is Woods model #49647.
Below are instructions for #49647 timer.

If your timer is different, add a comment with model number and I'll post instructions for that timer.

Woods model #49647 is outdoor timer with photoelectric control that turns timer ON at dusk.
There are 4 possible settings that show on dial.
Rotate dial to make timer selection.
OFF = timer is OFF full-time until you change dial.
ON = timer is ON full-time until you change dial.
Dusk-Dawn = timer turns ON at dusk and OFF at dawn
2, 4, 6, 8 hours = timer turns ON at dusk, and turns OFF 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours later.
