Fridgidaire Dehumidifier making high pitched noise. What is that?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are hearing a high pitched noise coming from your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDF50S, and want to know what it is. There are several possibilities that could be causing this high pitched sound. I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. The technician will be able to diagnose your dehumidifier and determine exactly what the cause is. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I have lost my instruction manual and cannot change te temperature and humidity settings. How do you do this?

Here is a link to an Owner's Manual for a Haier 45 pint dehumidifier. Not sure if yours exactly like it or not, as you didn't mention a model number. You can download and print the manual for future reference.

http://www.haieramerica.com/cool-heat-air-quality/dehumidifiers/45-pint-capacity-electronic-control-115-volt-dehumidifier-de45ek-7

Look for the download in the left hand lower left on the page.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Can you please help me find out what makes my fan motor slowly stops running after about 30 minutes. The unit runs fine but after about 30 minutes the motor sounds like it slowing down and wants to trip....

mcdevito75 here, It could be the capacitor if you can replace with same size do so. The Armature or communtator in the motor could be shorting also, do the capacitor the change the motor.

MY unit has become increasing noisy and the fan is the mane cause. The fan is now making different noises at differing levels high and low of loudness, and it often quits running all togetger. It is also...

It sounds like the bearings in the motor are worn out, especially as you said it quits running at times. You should be safe in just replacing the fan motor, but check the fan blade to make sure it isn't out of balance for any reason(dirty, missing a balance weight, or bent). Hope I was of assistence!

Check the fuse on the board. If the fuse is ok

Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifier

I'm working on mine right now as we speak with the same problem , it runs for 3-4 minutes and then drops out and what I think I have found is the compressor comes on but the fan that blows over the condensor/evaporator assemblies never turns on ! I tore the covers of mine and put a volt meter across the orange and black wires (with the unit on high ) , on the little white plug in the metal box on a pc board , that all the wires go into and with the comressor off just before it starts on power up I have 122vac (volts ac) and then the compressor kicks in and it drops to about 107 vac but no fan action so I'm getting on line to order a motor assembly Kenmore # 4681A20040K ! I just happened across this site so I hope It works for me and helps you !

Will not power on after the electricity came back on in the house!

That capacitor is a run cap for the compressor. Your problem sounds like a faulty connection in the circuit which supplies power to the solid state electronics. The electronics will have a 115 VAC supply from the rest of the machine's circuitry, most likely running to a small transformer. Check for 115VAC when you attempt to start the machine. Trace the circuit until you find the point where the power disappears when the start is pushed. If this does not reveal the problem, replace the board that has the transformer on it. There is a faulty connection somewhere which is opening when power is drawn. It is also possible that the compressor is locked & drawing enough power to disable the rest of the machine. Try it with the compressor disconnected, before replacing anything.
