It wont let me download the update that it keeps telling me to download and it disconnects me for xbox live if i dont have the update downloaded

Try deleting any previous game updates and try again. If it still won't update, make a different profile on your PS3 and try downloading/installing it with that one.

If youe on a wireless connection change to wired then update, if your already on a wired connection then you need to connect your machine direct to your ISP modem and not any routers or switches or things that would inhibit or bloack the transmission. What happends is Xbox live is loaded and sometimes the download drops out because of the amount of users on the service at any given time. Once it falls below any certain KB/per secound the transmission is stopped by your isp this is called a abandoned download.

If your on a router disconnect and go directly into the isp modem.

If that does not help with connecting try going to the system tab of your dashboard and run the initial setup. Dont worry you wont lose all your downloads and profiles, it just changes all settings back to the default.

you need to open the port that the update is trying to go through. the easiest way is to turn your firewall off, but this opens up your security. another way is to forward the correct port through port forwarding on your router. findout which port xbox live uses and put in the information to the router
