When I press on the dimmer switch, it made a noise and the light did not come on. Is it burned?

I answer questions for free.
I specialize in timers and electrical devices.

There are not replacement parts for electrical wall devices.
You can pull out the device and see if there is a loose wire that caused the pop.
But today's dimmers are electronic, and if there is a pop, I bet the circuit board inside the dimmer has been ruined.

If you need more help, add a comment and I will respond.

Can the transformer on the slide switch burn out if left on low for 6-7 weeks? Mine seems to be.

Hello.
Yes, this is a problem for some models. Continuous, uninterrupted operation can create a situation where the dimmer's "triac" (or in layman's terms - power regulator) continuously fires and a resistance will develop. This will overheat and damage the "transformer". There are dimmers with low voltage and load protection capabilities available. Your local "big box" store should be able to help you there.

Why do dimmer switches make my lights change in

this is a tricky one.. when i inquired to the maufacturer they came up with several reasons.. dimmers are electronic and any electronic noise on the line can cause it to freak out...when it is on full the dimmer is not engaged. When the dimmer is dimmed the electronics kick in and are subject noise. Ahh what is noise? noise is caused by motors, or transformers (like phone chargers) or god knows what. you can try to move the circuit breaker from one leg (phase) in the panel to the other. that might doit.. or the noise could be coming from your outside your home or if you are in an apartment.... anywhere..... you can try fo put in an old resistor type dimmer if you can find one... then when it all starts to work... your wife will say... whats the humming noise!... and thats another story.. use candles

3-way dimmer dead

It could be a loose connection, and it could be a loose connection on the OTHER 3-way switch across the room. Also, verify that the dimmer is rated for the fixture(s): add together the wattage of each individual light bulb that the dimmer controls and make sure that the dimmer has a higher wattage rating. If it isn't, you might have burned up your dimmer (and risked an electrical fire). Hope this helps!
