Error 03 is very common in the Mini-DV models. This problem can be defective reel tables, or it can also be a defective rotary encoder. You can expect to pay intermediate to major labor for this type of repair. Parts are nominal.

Contact JVC, they fix this error FREE. They fixed my GRD-50. It's a common fault with lots of them. Give it a go. Good luck.

JVC camera has common issue with CCD Imager defects. Please mention correct model and your country name to provide you further help as JVC has free repair scheme for few models. I couldn't find GR-D23EK. Just as reference, click JVC GR-D22US to see problem and details.

Replace ccd base assy. Part no. LYH-30446-002A-S

I know this is an old post, but this model (along with many others) was subject to a product recall due to a fauly part. This is a known problem and was being dealt with by JVC free of charge.
