I have got a prolectrix 8 stich machine as a gift from my brother .He is settled in England.But he forgit to send its catalog .will you please tell me how to opearate it? my problem is that i don't know how to enter the thread for sweing.

    Hello,

    you said you have a machine, i have worked out almost how to threa the bobbin - but it only winds around the bottom not moving up the bobbin - any thoughts what i may be doing wrong?

    try teasing it up with your little finger, and you will note that the bobbin does not fill up too full so you have to keep re filling unfortunately or fill two of the same colour.

Have you changed your needle? If you have a dull or bent needle it can cause the machine to not lock the stitches together and the result is a straight stitch on every pattern. Also, check your stitch width selector and make sure that it did not get accidently moved.

Trouble with sensor
The upper thread sensor on most Brother's is activated by the check spring. Either your check spring has broken or is stuck. You may be able to fix this if you can get to it. A drop of oil may be all you need. I may be able to give more specific advise if you tell me what model it is.

There is a small screw on the bobbin holder. Tighten it SLIGHTLY. This will increase the bobbin tension.
