I pushed some button and now I cant get the pip to turn off and the rest of the screen is snow

my 2 1/2 year old had the remote in her hand, and we're not sure what she pressed, but now the PIP wont go away. its showing screens in the top right, and bottom left corners!

I have an older panasonic (without the remote or manual) and the PIP will not go away. The solution offered by Imhiro on Nov 18,2008 worked. Turn off TV then depress the action button and turn power back on. A little more to the help. Hold the Action and power buttons depressed simoultaneously until the tv comes on. A self check menu should appear. At least it did on my tv. Then exit the self check menu. Imhiro is 100% correct.....VOILA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Imahiro!!!!! You are my new hero!!!!!

i couldn't turn off the PIP and even bought a new universal remote control to try to turn it off and it didn't work.  we followed swmlem's directions and held the buttons together and it finally worked!!!!  after 3 hours of trying to figure this out...what a relief! THANKS!

    IT worked THANKS

HEY I had the same problem and it was SUPER annoying! The solution works but make sure you turn off the TV and then press the Power button AT THE SAME TIME as the Action button and hold them until the self-help screen comes up!

Tried Imhiro's & Chris' solutions, which are essentially the same. The menu screen disapears at about 65 seconds, but the pip window remains. Need more advice.

To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote, turn off the tv. Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button. This will activate a reset and self check of the systems and voila! The pesky pip screen will be gone! This is on an approximately 10 year old regular crt "CT-xxxxx" series tv.

To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote:
Slight Clarification:
1) Turn off the tv.
2) Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button.
2-b) Continue to hold down the Action until the tv powers all the way up, and the reset menu comes up - be patient.
Expected Reslut: Self check menu should appear.
Expected Reslut: The pesky pip screen will be gone!
If the self check menu does not appear, you did not hold the Action button long enough.
Simply begin from step one.
Thanks Imhiro

this didnt work for my tv even thou this is my model tv, i held it until the menu came up but pip is still there

  • Anonymous Jun 21, 2013

I tried this technique, twice. It did not work for me. Then, I unplugged the cable box completely diconnecting all connections. I then turned the TV off and held the action button down while pressing the power button. It worked. The pip was gone.

After disconnecting the cable box, I reconnected the cable box connections to resume regular cable TV. The pip screen was gone.

Can't turn off PIP on Sony XBR videoscope TV

Hit the set up button on the TV.
You'll see options to change the language. The last option is to put the TV in "Demo Mode."
Put the TV in Demo mode, when the first screen appears, "Welcome to...." the PIP will disappear.
Hit exit before the screen moves to the "Menu." If you miss it, watch the demo once--it will restart--and hit the exit button the next time you see the "Welcome to" message.

I just did this and it worked for me - i hope it works for you.
