Unable to set resolution to 1440 x 900

I have a balance pc (desktop) with a Viewsonic 1703wb lcd monitor that supports 1440 x 900 p, but the maximum resolution I can get is 1280 x 768. Does the Intel 845GV chipset support this resolution? I've tried using Powerstrip to add the new resolution with no success. Thanks.

Eric

I also have the same monitor and face the same problem. But the solution lies that you will have to buy a graphics card that can give out the resolution that your monitor is best made for. 1440 x 990.

Incase you really want at 1440 x 990.  buy a graphics card depending on your motherboard. (agp or pci-e).

hope this helps.

Eric -

Resolution limitations are primarily determined by the video card within the system, the resolution of the LCD is secondary. First thing I would do is look through the documentation for your video card(or for your motherboard, if video is integrated within the motherboard), and see what resolutions are supported. If your system's video output can handle higher than 1280x768 output, then I would look through the user guide for the LCD. If both the video card AND the LCD support higher resolutions than 1280x768, you should download and install the most recent drivers available for your video card from its manufacturer's web site.

Hope this helps!

You need to set your PC to the native resolution of the monitor, if it is too high, you will get out off range message: native resolution is 1920x1080p @60Hz.

Common problem in this VX series are due to bad DC filter caps which can cause a lot of starnge symptom, see pictures here:

The power supply may not be stable enough to handle higher resolution mode.

Boughtcomputer plugged in monitor and it is not fitting on the screen missing about 2 inches what do I do?

You need to set the approprite resolution for your screen. To do this do the following:
1.)Right click on the desktop and select Properties.
2.)In the settings tab you will see the resolution slider bar.
3.)In your case you want to increase the resolution, you do this by moving the bar to the right.
4.)Stop on the maximum resolution supported by your monitor, usually the one at the right most setting.
5.)Click apply to save then ok.

All done!!!

Thanks

Ihave viewsonic lcd monitor va1616w. Display card is NvidiaGEForce2 integrated GPU. The resoultion is not coming correctly

Maximum resolution on this monitor is 1366x768. Check your color depth( 16 bit, 24 bit, etc) and do not set the resolution greater or you will get unpredictable results.

Upon powering up, a banner flashes OUT OF RANGE. What is the fix?

The maximum/native resolution for this display is 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz, you need to adjust your PC video resolution, it is too high right now for the Viewsonic to work. Hook up your old monitor and set the new resolution, otherwise bootup in safe mode (hit f8 key while booting up) and choose VGA support, set the new resolution, reboot.
