I have a balance pc (desktop) with a Viewsonic 1703wb lcd monitor that supports 1440 x 900 p, but the maximum resolution I can get is 1280 x 768. Does the Intel 845GV chipset support this resolution? I've tried using Powerstrip to add the new resolution with no success. Thanks.
Eric
Hello,
eric, YOur LCD support upto 1440X900. this could be true if you use higher resolution VGA adapter in you PC.
This matter in the Video Adapter.
may this help,

I also have the same monitor and face the same problem. But the solution lies that you will have to buy a graphics card that can give out the resolution that your monitor is best made for. 1440 x 990.
Incase you really want at 1440 x 990. buy a graphics card depending on your motherboard. (agp or pci-e).
hope this helps.

Resolution limitations are primarily determined by the video card within the system, the resolution of the LCD is secondary. First thing I would do is look through the documentation for your video card(or for your motherboard, if video is integrated within the motherboard), and see what resolutions are supported. If your system's video output can handle higher than 1280x768 output, then I would look through the user guide for the LCD. If both the video card AND the LCD support higher resolutions than 1280x768, you should download and install the most recent drivers available for your video card from its manufacturer's web site.
Hope this helps!
