I have a Toshiba 43 inch projection TV. Six months ago the convergance function was repaired by a TV repairman. Now the TV is periodically turning on and off by itself while we are watching it. What could this be?

This tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv have colors lines R,G,B mis alignment,have colors shadows picture or 3D picture? The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead.These parts on the tv convergence board,require changing to solved the tv picture convergence problems.The shop,will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

hello, the convergence ic's have gone bad in your tv . and sometimes they fail because of a 50 mfd @ 50v capacitor by each ic goes bad. if you have the skill at soldiering and desoldiering you may try repairing it yourself otherwise leave it to a qualified repairman. thanks .....techman...580-243-8025

Since the set seems to correct itself when "cool", I would first try resoldering the convergence IC area. Quite often, the convergence problems start with poor connections that eventually cause the ICs to fail. Rather than spending money on a repair kit, try the resoldering first. I will verify the kit contents in the meantime.

On some of these Hitachis they have a surround sound option, there is an additional board in there that goes bad and needs to be repaired. suggest a repairman or service center.
