By any chance, is this a machine that has a lever or buttons to raise and lower the feed dogs? You do not mention the make and model of your machine, therefore, not as easy to be more specific with an answer.

Bobylock 5260 serger where is the lever to raise the feed dogs?

The feed dog lever on the Babylock 5260 serger is located on the right side of the machine, near the front. It is a small lever that can be moved up or down to raise or lower the feed dogs. To raise the feed dogs, you will need to push the lever up. If you are having trouble locating the lever, you can consult the machine's manual or contact a Babylock dealer or repair technician for assistance.

How do I get the feed dog up on model 6235

The feed dog for that machine is NOT designed to be raised or lowered; instead a cover is put over the needle plate. You might want to remove the needle plate--it's designed to be removed to access the bobbin case--and see if you can pop it up again. On models that DO have the ability to raise and lower their feed dogs, once it has been lowered, if you press the dial or lever to raise it, it won't raise until the hand wheel is turned one or two times.

Can not raise feed dogs

They WILL come up for you, and here's how. You see, anytime you put the feed dogs down they go down right away. But when you put them up again, you have to turn the hand wheel TOWARDS YOU (ALWAYS TOWARDS YOU FOR ANYTHING) at least one or two times before the dogs come up again. You'll hear them "snap" into place, but until you do that, they won't move at all, on ANY machine I'm familiar with.

A word about pulling the hand wheel towards you. If you turn it away from you for more than one revolution, you run the risk of throwing off the timing. I was told this by a technician of many years experience many years ago.

How do I fix the dogs when they won't feed the fabric?

The feed dogs on that machine (and many others) do not go back up when you move the feed dog drop button to up; they return to the up (feeding) position after the machine makes a stitch or two. So if they won't come back up after you tinkered with them, you will now need to bring it in for servicing.

Problem with feed dogs and thread catching

Hello Emma,

Hope this helps.
When the feed dogs are lowered they will not go up with just the switch. Try this, move the feed dog switch to the up position, then turn the handwheel 1 complete rotation. Voila they should be up. Let me know if it is solved. Chris

I dropped the feed dogs and they won't come back up.

Ignore all the other comments, they are wrong.
The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

Feed dogs will not raise, I have lifted the presser foot, pushed the feed dog lever to the raised positon and turned the handwheel till i heard the click. They still will not snap into place in the raissed...

Hello

First, lift the presser foot; next, push the feed dog lever to the raised position; finally, turn the handwheel towards you until you hear the feed dogs snap into place

If it doesn't, you will have to run a maintenance check on your feed dogs,

Unplug the machine and examine the feed dogs. The newer machines have metal feed dogs, but older models may have rubber ones, which often need replacing. Examine the feed dogs and check for damage.

Remove the throat plate, which is the covering over the feed dogs, and clean it with a soft cloth. Use a small soft brush to clean the feed dogs. Make sure to remove all lint and thread from the grooves of the teeth. Some machines have an adjustment that lowers the feed dogs for specific sewing procedures. They should be in the raised position for better viewing during the cleaning process.

Clean the area around the feed dogs with a soft brush. Compressed air is a good choice to use in the small tight areas.

Wipe down all areas with a clean, lint free cloth before replacing the throat plate.

Prepare to clean the feed dogs and all other areas that lint may accumulate on, after every project. Your sewing machine will last longer and need fewer repairs if kept clean and lint free.

Always unplug the sewing machine before any type of maintenance or cleaning.

Never use a sharp tool when cleaning the feed dogs as this may cause damage to the sewing machine.
