Darn thing STILL won't turn on

I have the Jack Lalanne power juicer express, my mom gave it to me. She only used it once, and I was with her. Now I have it and it won't turn on. The manual says there is a micro safety switch (which, by the way, I still cannot find) that is supposed to keep it from running if the parts are not all assembled correctly. Is there a trick to this? I have taken it apart and put it back together 5 times and it still won't work. I know the outlet is fine as I tested other appliances on it. HELP!

Thanks for your help, I finally got it working though. I called customer service and what I found out is that the little peg that holds in the safety switch was actually broken off. It's a plastic part that juts out of the base of the pulp cup and into the switch, it looks like a tiny peg. They said it is very common for people to break it off, especially when they don't know it's there, when they pull the pulp cup up instead of straight back. I was able to order a new pulp cup (it also came with a new pusher) for only $12, and the guy was so friendly. Hope this helps other people.

Thank you! I was able to makeshift a peg and super glue it to the pulp cup.

There is a little knob on pulp collector that pushes in a switch, probably to assure the unit is assembled before operation. Mine broke off. I opened bottom of unit and used electrical tape to permanently engage the switch. The Juicer now works. I consider it poor construction that such an important part of the operation of the unit is able to break off and poor customer relations that there is no help for this on their web site. I have used it only a handful of times and the unit has mostly been in storage and has not been abused.

I recently took my juicer to a friend's house to use over the weekend.  When I plugged it in, nothing.  Tried it again at home, nothing.  Finally after reading some of the stuff here, I opened up the bottom part with a phillips screwdriver.  It's remarkably simple inside and yes, the handle triggers an on/off switch.  I checked all the connections (they all had plugs kind of like a phone or computer) and then reassembled.  The reassembly was a bit tricky because I had to put some little springs back in and make sure the handle was positioned properly.
Once it was all tightened up it worked again.  I'm glad because I was thinking I needed a new juicer and really mine isn't that old...

I came to this site with the same problem. I brought out the manual and tried the troubleshoot steps. Sure enough the metal handle was not properly up, hence the machine would not turn on. I adjusted the handle properly and the machine started up. Try it with everything in its place. See if it works.

Wow you are all brilliant!
I did exactly that cut off a tip of q tip and put it in the hole where it says safety shut off and it worked.
I guess when I took the pulp collecting container off yesterday I did it too roughly and it broke that tiny piece of plastic that keeps the safety switch off
Thank you!
How would I have figured that out myself without being able to check online
I have added two photos to help the next person
The first photo shows a piece of a Qtip stick in the hole where the it says Safety Swtich outlet. The other pic is the bottom of the pulp container where the piece had broken off
Thanks! Judy

Investigating some of the other post I did some troubleshooting . I noticed on the basket that catches the Pulp it was A piece of plastic that was broke ( on the bottom middle Compartment that faces the unit. I looked That area of the unit and noticed it was a small hole; so I figured the plastic piece broke off that Released a safety off that allows the unit to turn on. I cut Off the top head of a Q-tip, Stuck it into the hole reassemble the unit and My unit worked. Hope this helped.
