LG 50PC3D I have a 52 inch LG plasma TV that is 4 years old. The picture is good except when there is a white background, the screen flashes/flickers and has pink streaks. The flashing also occurs when watching football and the screen is mostly green. The last few times when the TV is turned on there is a loud pop and the TV turns itself off, when the TV is turned back on, it seems to work OK except for the flashing. Is it worth repairing or should I trash it and just replace it?

When this happens the voltages on some of the circuit boards can be adjusted to claer up this problem. THIS IS NOT some thing a person should do them self, the voltages are dangerous and critical to the operation of the set. "This should only be done by a trained service technician."

HelloThe problem shows the refresh rate. Quite propably that you are seeing the much slower beat or heterodyne. Often caused by artificial ambient lighting like florescent tubes or faulty dimmers on halogen's etc causing the beat with plasma screens.

Otherwise you need to check power supply

Check and replace its main digital board. after replacement, somde adjustments have to be done, and you have to enter its service mode option to do it. Really it is a skilled work, that a customer who has no idea in electronics can do.

LG PLASMA TV WITH COLOURED LINES OVER SCREEN

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.
Good Luck.

LG Plasma TV 50PC3D

The TV should be under warranty. Send back. Sounds like the panel is faulty (half the value of the set).
