HI
Yes the burrs will wear out. They can be replaced. To remove the outer burr. Twist the bean hopper counterclockwise until it stops. Lift the bean hopper out. There is a cream colored ring with 2 tabs that will lift out holding the outer burr. To get the inner cone burr out is a little more difficult. We use a vice grip and grab the burr, and lock the pliers to it. Then with a quick movement clockwise on the pliers, you loosen it. Then clockwise unscrew the burr. When you install the new burr, it truns on counter clockwise until it stops. Insert the new outer burr. Push down so the tabs will lock in. Install the bean hopper into the correct slots ( 1 large tab and 1 small tab). Twist clockwise to turn on and test. Remember it must be grinding to turn to a finer grind but can be turned to a coarser grind any time.

SOURCE: Leaks under pressure

Hi
Your brew head gasket is leaking and needs to be replaced. remove everything and turn the machine on its top. Look ate the brew head inside there is a black gasket and it should be clean and flat. If its cut or curled it needs to be replaced. Not cleaning the brew head will cause this gasket to be cut and after a while it will curl and not seal.

SOURCE: Solis Palazzo Descaling (?) Problem? Please Help!

Hi
He has the first part correct, but when you rinse the machine with fresh water the machine needs to quit on its own and you will know this when the descale light is off, but you will have a flashing green light and a steady red light over the water drop. Refill the water tank, the close the steam knob and then open it again. This will clear the red light and then the machine will start heating. IMPORTANT on any automatic machine is when the water tank is off the machine don't do anything with the beans. A chip of bean in the water receptacle can be a big problem for the machine.

SOURCE: Solis SL 90 occasional pressure loss, only a few

HI
There are a few things that can cause this. If it brews without the portafilter in, then your coffees is too fine or you have a blockage in your basket if it has a ring in the bottom. You can clean the basket by using espresso machine cleaner like Cafiza or JoeGlo. Automatic dishwashing detergent works in a pinch also. 1/4 teaspoon in the basket then brew like normal but stop after 3-5 seconds and let set for 1 minute. Repeat this for about 5 - 10 brews then rinse the basket and run 2 - 3 long shots of just water through the basket (brew) to thourghly rinse the basket.
If it doesn't brew with out the portafilter in, then you have a blockage in your brew head. There is a screw that holds in the dispersion screen. Above that is a larger screw that holds in a check valve. if you can get the check valve out see if water will run through. If not your blockage is in this tube. run a heavy wire up this tube for about 4 inches. Twist the wire as you go. Test to see if you can get water through. If so reassemble and do a descale through both the wand and brew head. Use a strong descale the first time and then do a second. Descale 2 to 3 time a year to prevent this.

Testimonial: "Very helpful, I'd wondered if it might be the basket."

Grinder doesnt grind beans although the motor works and the burr spins. I have cleaned it per the instructions and reassembled . Everything seems to fit together properly, but the beans don't seem to be...

I would suspect a log in the outlet shute where it goes into the grinds hopper. Clean it out and then turn the hopper to the coarsest setting to clean it out all together. Coarse grinds are a very good cleaner.

How to adjust new baratza maestro plus I had a solis maestro previously that, when dialed all the way up, did produce a grind fine enough for a good espresso, but this new machine does not. I have taken...

I, just adjusted the the solis 167; first remove the Bean container by turning counter clockwise and the pull straight up) then remove the timer dialer (time/quantity control), then remove the cover by lifting the locking tabs (2 slots each side) with a flat screw driver. Once you removed the cover. Pull straight up the the white ring with the metal cup. Now you see a dark ring which is clicked on the with unit. When you look under the ring you an see little holes all along the white unit (that's important because you need to mark your old position). After marking the thr ring on the white unit, pull off the the dark ring by slowly pulling the ring outwards just on 2 places on the ring where there an small hole in the ring (there are 4 holes). When you turn the ring you will see 2 nobs, now place back the ring with the nobs 2 places further(clockwise) than the old position. You have just adjusted the grinding control! Place back all parts in reversed order. To place back the Bean container you must be aware that there are 2 black nobs in the machine and 2(different sizes!) on the container, they must be placed in a cross.
I trust you will hav succes. Don't turn to far at once because you have now modified the machine and this could damage it! I will assume no responsibillity for damages! Masta NL

Cleaned the Solis Maestro grinder and re set it to a fine espresso setting but the grind is coming out very course. What should i do?

Hi Your burr is not locked in. You need to remove the beans from the hopper. Remove the hopper. Remove the burr. Turn the grinder upside down over the trash can. Put the burr back in only make sure that the burr is down. Install the bean hopper and when you turn the bean hopper it should move the burr. Then you can adjust your grind. Make sure that the grinder is running is your going to a finer grind or you could break the grinder. You can turn it to a coarse grind any time.

Oily beans seem to have clogged our coffee grinder up. What can we do?

Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift it off. Remove the outer burr with the 2 wings and clean under the burr. Clean the opening going to the chute for ground coffee(inside where the burr was).
Install the outer burr. Install the bean hopper. Rotate the bean hopper to the French press grind (coarsest) and operate the grinder. This will clean the burrs and the passages. If it starts to clog, repeat the last part to clean the burrs and passage. It must be grinding to go to a finer setting, but you can go to a coarser setting any time. Another thing. Turn the grinder upside down (empty) and rotate the bean hopper back and forth to clean the threads of the adjusting burr..

I can't remember the simple key to disassembling the Solis Maestro for more thorough cleaning. I need to get beyond the top burr removal stage.

Hi
Rotate the bean hopper counter clockwise until it stops. Lift the bean hopper out. Remove the outer burr with the wing-lets. Can go back in either way. Clean with air or vacuum out grounds. Use small brush to help clean grounds. Reinstall burr. Line up notches of the bean hopper with shell ( large tab in large slot, and small tab in small slot). Rotate bean hopper clockwise a small amount and test.

The burrs need to kept clean otherwise it will create a lot of dust and jam it up. This is aggravated with oil coffee and flavored coffee. Thoroughly clean the burrs and chute.
