This is a power management feature relating to the wireless. I have no idea why it's activated in your laptop, it's practically obsolete. Do a search for the exe and find out where (in what program's folder) it's located and uninstall the corresponding program.
I would suggest, as a first step, to have a look on what kind of errors and/or warnings you get in the System event log when you try to shut down your laptop while it is attached to the docking station. This could shed up some light on what is going on causing the error message you get.

i have a dell latitude e6500 with a docking station for this model, and when my laptop is attatched to the docking station and perform a shutdown i recieve an error prompted that reads " the exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occured in the application location 0x0042c53b click ok to terminate the program" QDL Service 2KDell.exe application error im looking all over the internet to find something to resolve this issue to no avail, if someone could give me some direction it would be incredibly grateful. thanks
