Pulsar (Seiko) Watch Changes Date at different time.

Hey, I accidentally changed the date between 9pm-3am prior to realizing I wasn't supposed to according to the manual. Now the date changes about 45 minutes before midnight. Can I fix this without going to the dealer, and how?
Thanks.

I have the same problem. I did the same mistake because my watch didn't come with the proper manual and I looked it up online afterwards noticing what I did.

Mcdevito75 here, The manufacturer recommends you don"t try to change the date between certain hours as this could hurt the date changeing mechanism inside the watch, I don"t think you did any harm (LUCKY) and the date changeing 45 minutes before mid nite is just about right. BUT! if the date change was aliitle closer to mid nite at 1 time you can try to reset the date, here"s how, your stem should have 2 positions to change the date without haveing to cycle the watch the 24 hours 60 times. Slip a finger nail just under the crown and gently, gently lift the crown to it:s first position, it may take a little practise but you"ll get it, once you do, trun the crown and you should see the DATE change, if so set the DATE to 1 DATE before the DATE you want, now pull the stem out and set the correct gate and time of day. Your watch is now reset and date will change on time, around nid nite.

Just got a new Seiko watch but the date won't change automatically

Main cause would be that the date gear teeth have been stripped. This is done by setting the date whilst the hands are trying to change the date themselves (between 10pm and 2am). Always adjust the date with the hands around 6.0clock. You will need to return your watch to where you bought it for repair I'm afraid.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.<br /> You will have to contact Seiko on this one. Pulsar watch, how do you set the day of the week and month?

mcdevito75 here, The stem has 2 positions, first adjust the day or month by going thru the 24 hour cycle with the stem. once set, slip a finger nail just ubder the stem and lift carefully this should allow you to change the DATE adjust to 1 date before the date you need, now pull the stem out to adjust date and time of day turn sten the complete 24 hour cycle to achieve the correct date and time of day. Now your watches day and date are set and will change to the next day date on time, around Mid nite 1 --2 AM.

Day/Date change

The date on mechanical and automatic watches change normally between 2-4am because this is normally when people sleep. It is not broken or in need of overhaul. It has to change sometime and that is what they have tradionally used as a time for the date to change. Also remember it is normal for an automatic or mechanical watch to loose or gain time friction is the culprit here since the gears do mesh with each other.

Fine watches like Rolex and Omega are beautiful watches but expensive to have cleaned. It should be cleaned about every 10 years or if it starts to loose a lot of time.

Incidently most agree that the Omega speedmaster manual wind (The watch that went to the Moon) is the most accurate of the bunch and is very sought after by collectors!

I've got a breitling superocean chrono and want to set the time, how do i do this?

Keep in mind that I dont have the watch in my hand... :-)

If this is an authentic Breitling...

You should have 2 buttons on the right with the crown between them. The crown screws down so you need to unscrew it before you attempt to set! Once unscrewed with gentle pressure pull the crown out. There should be 2 clicks, pull to 2nd click or furthest distance from case. That should be the time setting mode. Turn clockwise until the date changes then set your time. To change the date push back to the 1st click and that should be the date set mode. One direction will be for day and the opposite will be date. I believe that if you pull the crown back to 2nd click and push your buttons that should change the subdials for chrono. You might need to push both buttons at the same time.

Ive set Breitlings before but they arent a common watch we see. Most people dont use the Chrono so if the directions dont work for setting those then I wouldnt worry too much about it! Not many people are going to notice those. :-) Also be so very careful if its a real Breitling as they are a very expensive to fix! :-)

***DONT FORGET TO SCREW THE CROWN BACK DOWN OR YOU WILL GET WATER INSIDE THE WATCH!***

you're not supposed to change the time at certain times if it is an automatic. I think any time after 8pm and before 4am (but check your manual). Apparently it messes up the mechanism. Maybe that's the issue?

I suppose when you're setting the time on your watch, passing the midnight marker the date changes. In that case you can go to the date funcion and reset the date.
