I have a Dell Inspiron 9200. My screen is showing black lines on different spots. They run from top to bottom. There are at least 5 lines. Do I need to replace the screen? Thanks

Turn off the computer and when you restart it keep tapping the key F2 on the top left of the keyboard. A BIOS screen should come up. If you see the lines on the screen at that time then yes its a hardware issue. If not then your video card drivers might be faulty and you can re-install them.

Typically, that does indicate a problem with the screen or a connection problem with the wiring between the system board and the display. Check Dell's web site with your service tag if you are not sure about warranty coverage.

Always get pricing ahead of time before sending in a unit for repair. With screens, often it is not worth repairing them depending on the age of the unit.

Price of Dell Inspiron 9200 lcd panel?

Yes! but it is a good idea to hook a spare monitor to the video output first to make sure there is no problem, if okay! replace the LCD screen. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of the laptop and refine search to screen, a list of sellers will pop up showing the prices.

Only half of my screen on my dell inspirion 9200

you can try to connect an external monitor to your system then toggle FN+f8 if you see the screen good in external monitor it means the graphic card is ok then you have to replace the LCD panel.

The screen is black, but can hear system start. Sometimes I can start system back up and screen comes on, but it takes several times to do this. I have a Dell Inspriron 9200.

there is a loose screw on the screen hinge. you will have to lift the panel at the top by screen. unscrewing any screws that need removing. usually its just the screws on the hinge cover on the outer edge, then tighten the screw with the wire attached to it.
hope this helps

Vertical lines on laptop screen

There are only two issues here, one it could be the data cable on the left side of the screen has come loose from the socket on the LCD.....most likely though is your starting to have a cascading screen failure and will need to replace the LCD panel.

Black line down right side of screen

turn off laptop.
press and hold on the D then press Power button.
during the LCD BIST test check if the black line down right side of the screen is visible. if yes LCD needs to be replaced. if not connect your laptop to an external monitor check if the black line display appears to the ext monitor, if yes uninstall / reinstall video driver if fails replace video card or if it is built in replace motherboard.

if no ext monitor available then run PSA (press and hold Fn key then press Power button)

check if the black line is visible. Check also in BIOS is black line is visible, if yes then uninstall reinstall first the video driver if fails replace LCD.

Half of my diswplay on my Inspiron 9200 is blacked out with a vertical line going through middle.

You can reseat the video cable to the video card, and see if that makes any difference.

Also, Connect an external monitor, then press FN+F8 and see if the issue appears on an external screen, If not, then replace the LCD

I think I would contact Dell's customer service before buying and changing any parts. I have been told Dells online live tech service is very helpfull.
