Our HP OfficeJet k550n is a network printer. When attempting to print from a Lenovo laptop on the network, it locks up the main computer on the network. The only fix has been to delete the printer and reinstall it with HP's latest driver. It might work for a few days and then it happens again.

Help! Our Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop (service tag# 28D58F1) stopped printing. It was printing through our wireless network to our main computer with printer attached with no problems and then one day we...

There are several things to look for, but here are the first things to check:
  1. Is the printer plugged in and turned on?
  2. Can you print a test page from the main computer to the printer? If not, check what is in the queue to print on the main computer. Delete (Cancel) any print jobs in there that are not printing.
  3. Is the printer on the main computer marked as shared, if not, mark the printer as shared.
  4. Look at the print queue on the Inspiron laptop, if there are jobs stuck in there, delete (cancel) any stuck print jobs from the laptop and attempt to print a test page from it's printer properties by right-clicking on its icon in the control panel and clicking Print Test Page.
  5. If none of the above has revealed the problem...
    1. Remove the printer from the laptop by right clicking on its icon and choosing to remove the printer.
    2. Click on Add Printer and attempt to add the printer back to the laptop by following the instructions that come up. If the printer is not located, make sure your wireless network is running and that you are able to connect wirelessly with both the main computer and the laptop.
      1. Make sure that you are on the same Workgroup or HomeGroup
(right click on Computer (or My Computer, or This PC) in your file explorer and choose properties to see your Workgroup or Homegroup information) in any case, both computers must be on the same network).

How do I get the HP 6500 to print wirelessly?

For installing a wireless printer on Windows XP, wireless router is an essential device. Follow the recommended steps mentioned on the installation CD of the router, and set-up a wireless network. Since several computers or laptops will access the printer, it is recommended to connect the wireless printer to the main computer through the USB port. To begin the installation process on Windows XP, access the network setting in the Control Panel, and activate the file and printer sharing option in the LAN setting. This will allow the operating system to recognize the availability of a wireless printer. Now, click the Start button, go to Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer option. Click the second option- Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. The computer will search for available printer and reflect it on the screen. Click Finish; and the printer is ready to begin the printing process. get more detail for Wireless Printer Setup. Hope this helps you.

I can print from main computer, but are now unable to print from wireless laptop, which I could 2 week ago

assuming that your printer is physically connected to your main computer, and that your laptop is wirelessly networked with your main computer,

then you need to have the main computer on as you attempt to print from your laptop

Can I print via my wireless network with HP OfficeJet 6310xi?

Nothing helps. Print servers are capable of connecting a multifunction printer for printing capabilities only. For scanning, you have to connect directly to the Computer or by a Multifunction printer with wireless capabilities.
