Master Lock luggage lock

I have the 3-wheel Master Lock luggage lock. (It's item 646 or 647 on the Master Lock website.) I don't have the instructions. Are there instructions on-line for how to set a personalized combination. Currently the combination is set to 0-0-0.

Thank you!

Echolac Bag Combination Lock. How can I open my bag when I forgot my 3 digit code please?

Question edited for clarity, change spelling of maker, ecolac to Echcolac, change verb 'forget' to 'forgot', turn question around, 'make (what it is)' first in question, add magic word at the end.
Question moved from Cars and Trucks category to Luggage.

Pick it by inserting a shim between the dials until you feel the 'flat' section on each wheel. The rotate them all together until the lock pops. Or you can put a little pressure on the lock and feel when the wheel goes loose and feels different. Look at 'The Lock Picking Lawyer' on YouTube and search his channel for TSA Lock.

I have a Travel Lite suitcase. It is open but the lock wont close?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Camera category to Luggage.

It is a combination lock? They are very flimsy inside. There should be a reset button.

If it is a key lock, try turning the key the other way. Check the lock and the key have the same number?

Change combination and open a Master Lock 1544DCM

Look up 'The Lock Picking Lawyer' on YouTube and he will show you just how bad Masterlock are. It is a standing joke. You insert a shim like a feeler gauge between the wheels and feel for the flat. You can also open them by applying a little tension and start with the wheel closest to the opening and turn the wheels until you feel the wheel slacken as it drops into the gate. all his videos are under 3 to 5 minutes, he is remarkable! :>D

I think yours is the luggage lock in this list. I had one of those, it fell on the a carpeted floor and blew apart!!

How do you reset a lock on a hot tuna case please

Picture the scene, you've just arrived at your hotel in an unfamiliar city after a long flight. You put your suitcase on the bed and slowly turn the numbered wheels of the three-digit combination lock. You press the button to get access to your case but nothing happens. The metal zipper tags remain firmly trapped in the lock's clasp...
A locked suitcase with TSA approved combination lock
Getting locked out of your luggage is something that happens to even the most seasoned travellers at some time or another. Luckily the ubiquitous, TSA approved, 3-digit combination locks used by brands such as Samsonite, Eastpack, Antler and American Tourister are easy to open without damaging either the lock or the case and without any special tools.
By following the steps described below, you will be able to quickly open the lock and re-program the code to a new 3 digit combination which is easier to remember.
A 3-digit TSA007 combination suitcase lock
How to Unlock Your Suitcase When You Forgot the Combination If you look closely at the lock from above, you will see that to one side of the 3 numbered thumb-wheels there is a small disk (see photos below).
I have found that the best way to see the disks is by using your mobile phone's camera.
Select the video camera and shine the flash down into the lock then zoom-in to see the disks more clearly.
Starting with the first thumb-wheel of the lock, turn the wheel one click at a time until you see a notch in the disk as shown in the photos.
Once you have lined up the notch of the first wheel you then repeat the process for the second and third digit until the notches of all three wheels are lined up (see the photo of the blue suitcase).
Once all three notches are lined up, turn the suitcase so you can see the numbers.
Note, this is NOT the combination code.
The notch is not visible on either disk
Write down the numbers on the first line of a blank sheet of paper.
On the next line add 1 to each digit.
Repeat this 8 more times until you have a list of 10 3-digit numbers as shown in the photo below.
Try the codes one at a time until you find the one which opens the suitcase.
Once the case is open you can change the combination for one which is easier to remember.
With practice, the entire procedure takes less than 2 minutes.

Video: How to Quickly Open Your Suitcase Lock When You Forgot the Code

When writing this article I used 2 different suitcases, both of which are fitted with TSA approved Travel Sentry combination locks. The locks are slightly different models but the procedure is identical.
I made the video using the older, blue, suitcase because the notches in the green plastic discs are easier to see than the notches in the black disks of the red suitcase.
The code which opened the red suitcase was 2 clicks away from the position with the disks lined up. The code which opened the blue case was 8 clicks away.
If none of the codes which you have written down work you should check that you lined the notches up correctly. As can be seen in the video, there are normally two positions where the notches are visible. Make sure that all 3 notches are lined up in the same position. You can see that in the video I lined up the disks at the right-hand position.
The notch on the left disk is now visible

How do Combination Locks Work?

The 3-digit combination locks used on suitcases are designed so that you can change the combination to a unique code which only you know.
To do this, you have to first set the lock to the current combination. You then press a small button (normally using a ballpoint pen) which frees the numbered thumb-wheels from the locking mechanism (currently in the open position).
You can then turn the 3 numbered thumb wheels independently to a new combination before pushing the larger button (the one which is used to open the lock). This re-connects the numbered thumb-wheels to the locking mechanism, activating the new code.
The method described above relies on the fact that part of the locking mechanism itself is visible (the notched disks next to the thumb-wheels). This makes the number shown on the knurled thumb-wheel pretty much irrelevant. Once the disks are aligned you simply need to rotate them around until the lock opens.
The notches on all three disks are lined up

What Are TSA Approved Locks?

The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) is a US federal government agency responsible for the security of travellers that was created in response to the September 11 attacks.
All luggage is scanned before being loaded into aeroplanes and if any prohibited items are detected it will be opened by airport staff and the items removed.
TSA approved locks, identified by the red diamond shaped Travel Sentry logo, can be opened using master keys. The locks are often incorporated into suitcases but TSA approved padlocks are also available.
If your suitcase can't be opened with a master key then, if they need inspect your luggage, airport staff will open it by force, cutting off padlocks etc.
To save confusion it's a good idea to note down the numbers
In theory the keys are only available to airport staff but in reality anyone with a 3D printer can print out their own master keys.
Is it Really worth Locking my TSA approved Luggage Lock? As we have seen, the 3-digit combination locks fitted to most modern suitcases offer very little or no security. At best they stop your suitcase from opening accidentally during transit, preventing your dirty laundry from spilling out on the baggage carousel.
Some suitcases (including the red suitcase in the photos) have small metal hoops incorporated into the zip-pullers allowing you to use a padlock to lock your suitcase. Although at first glance this may seem to add a second level of security, in reality, it's a waste of time. As shown in this video, zip closure suitcases can be opened quickly and easily using a ballpoint pen.
Once the lock opens you can change it to one which you can remember

I forgotten my skybag number lock how to open the lock .

You can try to determine the combination by pulling on the shackle and moving the combination wheels until one of them clicks (or feels) different from the other numbers. Do the same for the other two number wheels. Lots of trial and error, but it has worked before.

How do I can unlock dial lock

The master dial lock is the world's best selling combination padlock. The lock uses three digit combination of 40 numbers.allowing for 15,00 possible variations
.Follow these step to unlock dial lock. 25284217-gdc3ufgmlwaqnv2deqjxyac2-5-0.jpg With the Combination Step 1 Turn the lock until the numbers read right-side-up. Roll the left-most dial until the first number of your combination lines up with the scored hash mark just to the left of the dial.
With the Combination Step 2 Roll the middle dial until the appropriate number lines up with the number to its left. Do the same for the right-most number. Your three-digit combination should now show, left to right, lined up with the scored hash marks.
With the Combination Step 3 Pull the body of the lock away from the U-shaped metal ring without turning any of the dials. The lock will click open to expose a hook. The hook spins 360 degrees so that it can be placed onto, and taken off, luggage.
Forgotten Combination Step 1 Pull the body of the lock and the U-shaped ring away from each other to put pressure on the mechanism inside the lock. Pull the body of the lock away from its attachment, or, if the lock is not attached, apply pressure on the U-shaped ring away from the body of the lock with your fingers. Keep holding a firm, steady pressure.
Forgotten Combination Step 2 Roll the dial closest to the U-shaped ring slowly, while keeping steady pressure on the mechanism. The dial will get difficult to roll over three consecutive numbers, and one of those numbers will click. You should feel and hear this small click, and that is the first number to your combination.
Forgotten Combination Step 3 Repeat Step 2 with the middle dial, and then the farthest dial. Leave the dial set when you find the click, moving onto the next dial. The combination will reveal itself, letting you pull the U-ring away from the body of the lock.
Resetting Your Combination Step 1 Hold the body of the lock so that the numbers face away from you. Set the combination and release the U-shaped ring.
Resetting Your Combination Step 2 Turn the hook of the U-shaped ring counterclockwise 90 degrees until the notch on the stem of the hook and the hole on the body of the lock line up. Push the stem of the hook down into the body of the lock as far as it will go.
Resetting Your Combination Step 3 Turn the hook another 90 degrees counterclockwise while it is depressed into the body of the lock.
Resetting Your Combination Step 4 Roll the dials until you have your new combination.
Resetting Your Combination Step 5 Turn the hook 90 degrees clockwise and raise the stem out of the body of the lock. Turn it another 90 degrees clockwise and push it back into the locked position. The lock now uses your new combination.

I lost the instructions and I don't know how to set the combination

Open the lock and take the end cap off (on the side that doesn't say "Master") and then the wheels. Make sure the red markers are aligned with the word "Master," then slide the wheels you want to use back on, spelling out your combination in alignment with the red markers. Slide the end cap back on and close the lock. Your combination will be set.
Note: if there are no red markers, there should still be metal protruding a bit where the markers should be. It will look a bit like the metal has been embossed.

How do I reset the combination lock on my Samsonite suitcase. I have it open but do not remember old numbers for lock. I need to reset it so I can use the suitcase.

Email from Samsonite in response to my plea for help:
    Dear Sir/Madam:
The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
    1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to “0′.
    2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
    narrow space.)
    3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
    4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
    5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
    6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
    a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
    b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
    your combination.
