My Garmin was working fine, have had it about 6 months. Tried to turn it on a couple days ago, no luck. Charger is fine. I tried the reset, still nothing. Last night i went and plugged it back in for the hell of it and it came on and worked fine. This morning went to leave on my trip and it wont come on again. Help!! Any suggestions?
Had my Garmin NUVI 200 for a few months, & the on/off switch on the top doesn't do anything now. It just slides back and forth. Unit works fine when I plug it into the car power source. But, can't operate it on it's own batttery power. Since I use it in "the field" now and then, its hard to carry a 12 vote battery source around. Can this switch be repaired? hook it up via usb cable to your computer for a few hours and try again. these nuvi are a real pain to get started sometimes but it should work, if it doesnt, let me know.
Can you try the direct to outlet charger? If you dont have one can you try a different charger? If that does not work then that means that the unit might be defective. Contact Garmin at 1-800-800-1020
First try this: I believe simply pushing the reset button will fix your problem. The reset is located under the frame around the screen. To remove the frame, use your finger nail to carefully lift it off the screen. Then just push the reset button and you should be back in business.
YES YOU NEED A usb MINI CORD 2.0 . iF YOU GO TO ANY STORE WHERE THEY SELL COMPUTERS THEY WILL HAVE IT JUST BRING YOUR GARMIN UNIT SO THEY CAN SEE THE TYPE PLUG YOU NEED. iT ALSO WORKS AS A CHARGER IF IT IS PLUGED INTO YOUR COMPUTER. AFTER YOU HAVE THE CORD JUST PLUG INTO A USB PORT AND GOT TO THE GARMIN SITE. . THERE YOU CAN DOWN LOAD THE CARS FOR FREE iF YOU JUST PURCHASED YOUR GARMIN 200w THEN REGISTER IT THERE AND YOU WILL GET A FREE UP DATE TO THE MAPS . FREE FOR THE FIRST 90 DAYS. AFTER YOU REGISTER. fyi IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO DOWN LOAD THE UPDATE. ABOUT 4HR ! THEN ANOTHER 1.5 HRS TO PUT IT INTO THE GARMIN UNIT.
I had a 200 W Nuvi with the same problem. Luckily it happened with the first 3 months, so i could return it to Garmin under warranty for a free replacement
