My monitor is not working properly. Its recieving power, and its on, but the screen is totally black. No backlight, no picture. Its not the power, because its recieving power, and when i plug it into a computer, the computer detects it and connects, but no picture. Its not the VGA cable, because ive tried other.
There isnt even a "boot screen" when i turn it on, and no box saying, " no signal" or "invalid input".
itsprobably the backlight, but would it then be totally black, and not just dimmed? Please help explain what is happened, and how to fix it:)
IT doesnt help, ive tried that already, there is no image, and no light what so everIT doesnt help, ive tried that already, there is no image, and no light what so ever

Sounds like the backlight or the inverter that runs the backlight in the screen is faulty. You can connect it to an ordinary external monitor which should show the picture correctly as long as there is nothing else wrong.
There should be a socket on the left hand side I think with 15 pin holes, thats the monitor connector. If it does work ok then you will need to take the laptop to a technician to replace the faulty part/s in the screen.
Hi! When a monitor display image for a second and then goes to black screen... there are possible reasons why this problem
occur..
1. You need to check if the high voltage ballast
transformer of your backlight inverter is about to be burned... the
transformer is overheating..that's why you experience the monitor
working for a couple of seconds and then it will shut off until the
transformer cool down again and then it will be ready to work again...
2. Check also the backlight inverter if it is busted...the backlight inverter is the light source responsible for the image display you seen on your screen. If this are busted then all that you will be seeing is black screen
3.
You need to check the power supply section for possible loose
connections and possible blown and bad capacitors..
the ballast transformer has direct
effect on power supply section.. when there is overheating
transformer,,, the supply current from the power supply section becomes
unstable.. and will not be able to supply the remaining good working
ballast transformer.
In case you do not know, the ballast
transformer generates high voltage for the backlight inverter to
work....
Please be advise that if
you don't have the knowledge, the proper skills and the right tools to
open the back cover of your monitor and replace its part...don't risk
it...
Otherwise, bring your unit to a credible technician and avail of warranty if there is any.....
Much appreciated if you rate this help...thanks...
I think what your monitor is experiencing right now is because of the backlight inverter in your lcd monitor is about to give up...The backlight inverter is a cold cathode light thats responsible for the image in your screen.. if the lights located on the upper and lower edge of the monitor will be busted then what you will see is black screen.. You will need to replace that in your monitor.
However, without the proper skills to do that and proper tools to open the monitor.. it will be risky for the safety of your monitor..
I suggest that you bring your monitor to a credible technician to replace busted backlight or (burned high voltage ballast transformer - supplying current to backlight)
That would be your backlight failing on you. Very common on anything with a lcd display. It will be covered under warrenty so check that. Also make sure you know what a replacement screen is worth as it might cost as much as a new monitor to fix, the parts are cheap but the labor isn't.
It will probably blink out more and more and then fail totally. The lcd itself is still showing the picture but without the backlight you can't see it other than perhaps a ghost image at an angle. There are replacement/repair kits for the backlight power board (if that model has a seperate board) and replacement lamps. You can do this as a diy fix with a little care and a few jewlerrs screw drivers and such tools.
There will be a problem with the backlights not being switched on, you would need to check if you are getting the supply voltage to the Inverter board (24V). If not check the power supply, if it is present then check if the backlights are functioning with a backlight tester, if these are ok check the capacitors on the inverter board. If the backlights are faulty then a replacement screen would be required.
Yes, It sounds like the backlight inverter circuit is shutting down. No inverter power, no backlight. On some monitors the inverter circuit will shot circuit the power power supply which makes the power light flash on some it just kills the backlight. You can usually check with a flashlight. Hold the flashlight pointed at the screen and see if you can see any of the icons or background picture. If you can then it is the backlight circuit or backlight tubes, usually the circuit.
The white screen is caused by a total lack of control over all pixels.
The opposite effect; all black, happens when a failure turns all pixels on, blocking all but a small amount of light.
This could have more than one source; one output of the power supply has failed so the logic section no longer is receiving supply voltage or an external source has damaged the video input of the monitor.
The backlight responsible for the white screen is obviously working as this is a separate power supply output to an inverter that powers the backlight lamp.
I'm afraid this is not a DIY repair.
