PVS3393 - We were traveling in the car and the dvd was playing fine, then skipped then came to a halt. I restarted it and the dvd would only spin and the screen said it is loading but it continued to spin. Last night I put in another dvd to see if the other one was the problem and the unit makes a grinding noise but I tilted it backwards and the dvd began playing. I let it play for about 3 minutes and turned off the unit and restarted and all it did again was spin and displayed "loading" .

Sounds like your lens has become unseeded and will need to be adjusted this can be done by opening it and seeing where exactly it is missing support however i would suggest purchasing a new one and returning this old one

When I play a new DVD on my PlayStation 2, it pixilates and skips in spots (if I rewind a bit, the skipping doesn't necessarily occur again in the same spot). But when I play that same DVD in another...

this is usually caused by minor scratches on the disk, the playstations dvd reader is not as sofisticated as a normal DVD player, so those minor scratches may causes skipping.

JVC TH-C30 dvd movies skip

Check your formatting on the DVD recorder, you need to finalize the disk to be playable on "any" player. That should solve the issue. Your JVC is looking for specific code as it reads the disc, when it's missing or not understood by your JVC it will either stop play or skip over it's interperated missing info. Hope this helps

DVD player does not read that there is a disk SAY " NO DISK"

Although this is not an answer to the problem, it may help us find one. I have some of the same problems with my player just spinning trying to look for the DVD or it will say bad disc. Sometimes it will start playing and just skip a lot. I think the problem is with the drive motor that spins the DVD. I have opened my player and "jimmy'ed" the door actuator and then spun the disc with my finger. It starts to play fine. I am on the path of looking for a replacement motor or someone to repair it.

Skips or won't play disc if even slightly scratched

Hello opie440,

The optics might be dirty or the pickup assembly might need alignment. In the former case you can get an optics cleaning kit and try to clean the laser LED and pickup assembly. For the latter cause you will need to have thre unit aligned at a TV repair shop.
