My new LG dehumidifier out of the box will not sense that the water container is empty. I put a 3/8 inch piece of styrofoam on the sensor to get it to turn on but of course it now will not sense that the reservoir is full. Also, I tried to connect a hose to by pass the reservoir and it does not seat properly so there is constant leaking.
I have found this issue to be pretty common on alot of LG dehumidifiers. Try and reseat the bucket so the left and right sides where the bucket meets the dehumidifier are both flush with the dehumidifier. The issue usually is you will notice that the left side sticks out a little farther than the right side. If this is the case that means the bucket s not fully engaged with the sensor and it will keep running even when the bucket is full. If you reseat the bucket and both sides are not even try reseating it again until both sides are flush. Once they are flush let t run and keep an eye on it the first time running it like this. You should notice the full bucket light when the bucket is full now. If you found this solution helpful please rate it.

if says full and leaking on floor. it is full, you say empty, why make sure that it is empty, sensor in container to check level, so if it is empty, sensor fault, but leaking on floor, would indicate sensor ok, and container full
Are you emptying the pan regularly? A dehumidifier takes the moisture out of the air by condensing it into a catch pan usually located at the base of the unit.
Is it warm outside, and do you have your A.C. on? Dehumidifiers ,just like A.C. systems, remove humidity. If the weather is cold, put an open gallon of water in front of your unit and let it run a day or so. If the bucket gets water in it, and the container of water goes down, then the unit is working.
Some units use the condensate water to cool down the condenser coil. This is why no water is present. If water is leaking from the unit or you are still sceptical about this problem, I would call for service. Mat
There is water in the bucket or no water in the bucket? If there is water in the bucket then empty it and put it back. If there is no water in the bucket then make sure the bucket is all the way in, (there is a switch that senses the bucket). If the bucket is not all the way in the de-humidifier will not work. If you do not hear it, it is not working.
An automatic overflow switch and Container “Full” indicator light are provided to turn the dehumidifier off before the container overflows. When the indicator light on the control panel glows, the water container must be emptied. If the light remains on and the dehumidifier does not begin to operate make sure the float is attached to the water container.
When the condensate water container is full, the indicator lights up. 1. Turn the power off before removing container. Wait 3 minutes for any remaining water to drain into the condensate container. 2. Tilt the container forward then lift carefully by the handle. 3. Empty and gently re-insert the container. Important:This water is not suitable for drinking.
We've had dozens of these in for more serious work but I noticed that the drain container on them has to be shoved in all the way in order to satisfy the control. What I do to get some peace while working on them is shove a small piece of styrofoam into the opening on the upper right where the tab in drain container goes in. Alternatively, if the mechanism needs adjustment you could bend the metal actuator bracket forward just a bit
