Power loss I was watching this TV, when all of a sudden it just went black. I checked all the normal things to no avail. I removed the back cover and checked the fuse. It's OK. When I plug the TV in three green diods turn on for a beief period. When the fourth green diode lights up, everything shuts down. My guess is that it is power related, not part of the audio ro video systems. But my knowledge is very limited. Can you tell me anything to look for? Local tv repair shops insist I take it in to their shops, but this is a 55" console, and pretty darn bulky to move. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

I've had it unplugged overnight, and this morning, I get the same sequence of green lights going off on the power board as before. A clue I picked up was that it was very hot and humid when it turned off. If I try usng a fan to cool the power board down, do you think this will help?

  • Bill Ritchie Jun 09, 2008

I just found the owners manual for this TV and the model number is 55UX58B, not the one I originally thought.

  • Bill Ritchie Jun 09, 2008

I also read that convergence amplifiers (TK 391-110 there are two on this set, have a history of going bad and causing my symptoms. Does this make sense to you?

  • Bill Ritchie Jun 09, 2008

that should read STK 392-110......soryy for the error

  • Bill Ritchie Jun 09, 2008

I've had a fan on it for cooling purposes forthe last huor or so, and when I plug it in I get exactly the same results. I have read that maybe fuses E994 or C707 could cause the same problem I'm having, and not the convergent amplifiers. I can sppot the two fuses mentioned, but I cannot find the convergent amplifiers.

Plug off the power for 24 hours

look for any bulged capacitors in the power board. but see if some light comes if u turn ON after 24 hours.

may be due to some heating or leaking also.

  • Anonymous Jun 09, 2008

please dont forget to accept the solution if u go by it.

  • Anonymous Jun 09, 2008

ya try a fan externally to cool it off. if the heat keeps radiating then it may be due to some shorting.
and if not u will have to install some heat dissipater's externally,

  • Anonymous Jun 09, 2008

that would be a last step.
    go step by step.

first of all try cooling the unit.

if u get fixed well and good.

else next we will have to move for convergence amplifiers only

Yah kindly follow this tip. After loosing the back cover when the tv power cord is removed from power socket, check for bulged or defect power capacitors in both the primary & secondary side of the power pack if found any kindly replace it with the actual or equivalent value as this electrolytic capacitor defects is much common for Samsung power packs

Tv turned off, won't turn back on

Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time.

Was watching my samsung LN55C630 TV and all of a sudden it just went dead. nlo picture and no sound, also the power light went out thats normally on when the tv is off.

Check the circuit breaker first for power to the outlet it is plugged into. If it is in a power strip then make sure that the reset is hit on that. I sounds like you had a line surge for some reason. If all else fails there is a fuse on the power board in the TV. Check to see if that is blown. If not check for black burn marks on the power supply board. Could have blown that altogether.

My tv is 3 years old. I was watching it yesterday.Something poped and it went black. what is wropng?

A capacitor shorted (popped) in the power supply then the fuse blew (went black) unplug TV, remove back cover, look for power supply; follow cord to it; find small silver can with top bubbled (bad)
unsolder/replace; replace fuse. plug in turn on.

More than likely it has a bad power supply board. The only thing is good luck finding one. I am going to try to repair mine.

No Power to Gateway Laptop

Michelle,
Check the fan vents... if they are clear of dust and lint. If there is some it may need a cleaning inside also.

Since the battery is light is "red" remove the battery. It could have been over heated or shorted outinside.
If it dont power up at all with only the AC adaptor (removing the battery) then try the reseting the "Reset" button under the unit.
