I have downgraded the OS of my Toshiba Satellite A205-S7468 from Windows Vista to Windows XP SP3. System is having trouble identifying the proper Audio Driver. On Windows Vista, the Audio Driver is Realtec Audio Driver 6.0.1.5406 Logo. Please help identify proper driver for Windows XP.

You can try with an automatic driver tool, yes of course, it could be installed manually, but to avoid the hassles, you better opt for a driver utility.
Download and install this software (Device Doctor Free). Once it's installed, run the program and click "Begin Scan", wait for few seconds until the scan completes and search the scan result for realtek, if so click it, the direct download page will open up, download and install the driver, that should work without any more hassles.

If you have problem, let me know.
Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I'm not sure where to exactly find it but I do know the driver in xp for this card is the Microsoft UAA function driver for high definition audio adi 1986. Google it and you should find the driver. The tough part is in the installation of the driver.

  1. If you are running Service Pack 3 (SP3) on Windows XP you must first uninstall it. Go into control panel, add or remove programs, and select Windows XP Service Pack 3. Then uninstall.
  2. Next load the sound driver.
  3. Reinstall SP3.
There are two tricks that you should know, save the driver to a disk before you uninstall SP3 as it will make youre Internet Explorer 8 no longer run. Because of this I would also suggest loading the .exe install file from Microsoft for Internet Explorer 8 onto a disk as well so that you may run Windows Update to reload SP3 when you are done.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Downgrade to Windows XP.

Due to the fact of the many people that wish to downgrade to Windows XP, many computer distribution companies keep current driver software that is compatible with the various Windows OSes. I checked the Toshiba website for drivers for the Satallite A205-S5809 and they have drivers for WIndows XP, XP SP2/SP3, Vista 32-bit, and Vista 64-bit. They have all the drivers you should need to make the changeover. I hope this helps.

Installing WIN XP SP2 in aToshiba Satellite A205-S7459 Vista original

Problem : When Windows XP was made there was no concept of SATA drives now ur drive is SATA and ur installation disc does not contain drivers for ur Hard disk thats why it is unable to find ur hard disk as it doesnt recognize it u need sata raid drivers on ur windows inst cd

simple solution: get WINDOWS XP CD with SP3 it contains support for sata drives

Workable Solution:

this specific model of Toshiba was shipped with vista OS and drivers now u are downgrading it to XP it depends on the installation disc if it is new one like SP3 included then u would have never faced this issue in ur case u should get a RAID driver from www.intel.com and then include them in ur copy of windows XP cd to load them at the startup of installation , so u need them in the first place to carry out installation, u have to do some job here download RAID DRIVERS from www.intel.com select ur board and chipset either it is 945 or 965 gm and then download nlite a software used to integrate these drivers to ur inst disk , u can also include SP3 thru this software in ur current win xp cd

SATA DRIVER FROM:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/license_agr.aspx?url=/17268/eng/iata87enu.exe&ProductID=2800&agr=Y&sType=&PrdMap=&DwnldId=17268&strOSs=45&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Home%20Edition&lang=eng

http://www.nliteos.com/

just download sata drivers from intel and nlite from the link and install the software integrate these drivers and burn ur cd incl them and then install normally as u were installing them earlier now it will recognize ur drive simple for more info how to do check this out

http://lifehacker.com/386526/slipstream-service-pack-3-into-your-windows-xp-installation-cd

after windows XP installation u will have one more task to find drivers for ur notebooks with XP support but it is the next step if ur some hardware like modem / sound/ doesnt work then i can help more

pls let me know if i can help u more
