Firelite problem! I dropped my Firelite the other day and now when I plug it in to my computer through usb, the blue llight goes on but it doesn't show up on the computer, and when I put my ear up to it there is this repeated clicking-like noise that sounds like it is stuck. Help? I will die if i lose all my files on it.... it's my only backup....

Hey there not sure if both usbs on this dual cable are to be plugged into my PC. The drive keeps flashing a blue light but my computer is not recognising it.

Hi,

In most case's only one USB needs to be connected, but you need to load the driver for it from the disks which you would have received for it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

How to backup your computer onto a firelite hard drive

VISTA: Hit the flag and go to computer. You should see the hard drive then if it is plugged in.

XP: Hit start and go to my computer and you should see the hard drive then if it is plugged in.

If this doesn't work try another USB slot for the dard drive. Some of your USB slots may be defective.

My USB Port stopped recognizing my Smart Disk

on my computer right click and select properties, then go to the device manager. Under the USB device locate this device and delete and unplug the cable from the computer. Let the computer reboot, and plug the cable into another port if ava. and see what happens.

HELP!

It needs to be inspected. Your hard drive might have had a head crash which is what the clicking noise your hearing could be.

Intermitant power

You are describing the symptoms of a classic cable short. My guess is the power plug cable on the A/C power adaptor or the socket it plugs into is damaged. Try holding the plug still and wiggling the power cable back and forth, chances are that will recreate the problem. -If you have basic tools and solder experience you can purchase a replacement plug, cut the old on off and attach the new one. -If you don?t have the time or inclination to fix it you can just purchase a replacement power supply. If it doesn?t appear to be the power (or if you?re not using the A/C power adaptor) it may be the USB cable or its socket. -Try a new cable. -Try a different USB socket; they are surprisingly easy to damage.
