Hello, I saw your answer that perhaps the progressive scan is accidently turned on with red, white, and yellow cables and therefore that could be the reason I am having color issues. I can only see black and white from DVDs that play on other players just fine. Can you advise how I can go about checking to see if this was turned on and if so, turn it off? I have a Kawasaki HT1210 DVD Home Theater System. Thank you in advance for your help.
I know how to fix this. what you gotta do is first turn the player on, have it on the dvd setting with a dvd inserted. play the dvd like you normally would.. i know the screen is still red at this point in time.. after the dvd is playing.. i mean the actual movie.. not previews or anything like that.. after the actual movie is playing for a few seconds.. hit stop on the remote 2 times.. after this, hit the setup button on the remote, from here just scroll to the video tab and you'll see the CBVS option which needs to be changed to the other one.. the YUV.. and abara cadabra your screen is back to normal. Now I noticed there was a p scan button on the remote, which I couldn't even get to work.. so ya if you follow those steps you'll be able to enjoy your movie within a minute!
I'm not very familiar with this namebrand on electronics, but they are all the same anyways.To check if this function is on, usually the player's lcd screen would have a "P", "PROGRESSIVE" or "P-SCAN" on it. First, make sure you remove all dvd's or cd's from the player, then look for a button on the remote, or the unit itself that say's "P-SCAN", "PROGRESSIVE" or "RESOLUTION", once you find it, push it, sometimes they would indicate the resolution on the player's lcd screen (480i, 480p,720p,1080i, 1080p), if not, on the tv itself. The resolution you are looking for is 480i for the type of cables you are using (composite RCA). Give it a try, and let me know how it goes...
Ok... So, you can actually see the dvd playing on black & white, right? That means we can access the dvd player's set up menu, make sure there's no disc inside, go in the set up mode and look for the part that says "TV Screen", "Screen", "Resolution" or something similar, once you are in that mode, look for the settings to be on 480i, most like it you may have them on 480p or 720p, it should give you the option to togle between all those resolutions before you accept the correct one. Ok, following the seccond solution I gave you, about going into the set up menu, but connect your Yellow composite RCA from your tv into the Green Component output from the dvd player, I believe that by doing this, you would get a "Black & White" picture. Once you have picture, follow the set of directions on my other commen about the set up menu.
Let me ask you something, Is your tv a newer model? Does it have HDMI or Componet inputs in the back? Because if this is the case, you'll be better of using this conections, the picture you'll get with those it's a lot better... Also do you have the owner's manual for this player? If you do, you should be able to find the information you need to restore the settings you need or restet it to factory conditions, I'm trying to find a website for this player, but so far no luck. Maybe if you do have the manual, we can check to see if there is a web site printed somewhere on the manual. Let me know...

Hi there, unfortunately, neither the front panel of the player or the remote have a "p," "progressive" or "P-scan" on them. I also did not see anything on the TV. The TV picture has color. It is only when the DVD player is turned on and the function is DVD. I would love any other suggestions you might have. Thank you!
Hello, unfortunately, I decided to unplug the system to see if I might be able to reset it. Now I can no longer any picture. I hear the DVD, but can't see it? Any suggestions? Thank you
there is no green component output from the DVD Player. There is an orange component and I tried that - but no luck. I am stuck. I really don't know what changed and why I am no longer getting a picture.
