Can you help me troubleshoot my TV? It has audio but no picture.

Use a voltmeter to confirm all the voltages are present when the TV is powered on. If they are all correct then replace the led driver.

I have a Samsung PN51E530A3FZXA 51" plasma TV. I heard a pop & saw smoke from left rear of TV. TV went black & had no picture or sound, however the red power light stayed on.

Unfortunately plasma tvs are a lot more complex to service, instead of 2 or 3 boards there are a half dozen at least. I would guess when the main PS board went out it took some other boards with it. I don't have a manual for your set but I would look at the power supply sub boards, there generally are 2 of them, or on some models that is parts of the other boards. Generally there is a legend to see what voltages are supposed to be present at what places, samsung is good about making the test points on the boards. Also there are fuses on most the other boards and its possible one of those has blow, it won't be a typical fuse like your used to seeing, some are a small green component and some are white mini fuses...Good luck!

Screen is out, sound still good

Hi Steven,
A Good place to start is the secondary power supply. It is normally integrated with the main power supply. Pull the back off the TV , take a look at the board where the power cord hooks to. Look for bulged or leaking capacitors.
They are always flat on top and normally laying flat where the bottom meets the board. I have seen them where they look perfectly fine and flat on top but the rubber 'cork' on the bottom is bulging out indicating that capacitor is bad.
Bad capacitors is the first part of diagnostics which can cause your loss of picture.
They are very affordable and available on eBay.
With a few YouTube searches you will have full knowledge of the concept and actually a pretty easy fix.
Here's a sample, it not your board but an example:

Here is a link to part of the service manual for diagnostics.
It also has a list at the end of all the capacitors.

Next step would be your inverter board which is the main component that operates your back lights for the screen.

This is your mainboard needing replaced! Simple as that!

The main sends the pson signal and without it...you have a dead tv.

Heard a pop sound...turned it off then back on and the red light is flashing and it's making a clicking sound

This problems it the causes by the power supply board have dead parts call capacitors. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.U have tools like a soldering iron, desoldering pump or a roll of desoldering braids,a roll of solders?U know basic electronic and can do basic soldering?Yes,check the power supply board for dying and dead capacitors, these capacitors are alway bulges up or puffing up on it tops.Replaced these dying and dead capacitors parts, will get ur tv stop making clicking sounds and the tv power will be stable again,tv will work.Or try website like Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Red light flashing, no picture/sound!!!!

HI, this unit has 3 main fuse links on the main board that may be blown. the fuse links should be check before you move further into the diagnosis stage. once you have checked the fuses and they are still in a working state, this will confirm a power supply board failure. this board provides and regulates the current flow and distribution of it throughout the entire unit. If the fuses are fine and the power supply board is damaged, the green light will come on briefly then, the main control will notice that the power supply is not functioning properly. Once the main control board senses an abnormal current, it will shut down the TV rendering the red light warning. The list of fuses to check are below. Remember, if they are fine and working, the issue will be the power supply board itself and, it will need to be replaced.

FUSE CHECK LIST--

3A 12v- fuse----(242208600623)
SM 3A 125v-fuse----(242208600657)
500 MA-fuse-----(242208611092)

PART NUMBER FOR POWER SUPPLY BOARD

Please rate and god bless:)

Samsung LCD tv wont turn on

what the full model number of your tv?
the clicking sound is the result of a faulty power supply, some capacitors(blown heads) on the power supply for the output voltage rail of the mains board need to be replaced.
