I have a 50" Samsung DLP about 6 years old. Like seagoat, My set is making a "buzzing/humming" sound. Just before it did that I heard a single "pop" sound. For the past week or so the picture has been getting duller. Any Thoughts? waccmike

It's the optical block (color wheel) and the same thing happenned to our Philips 50" DLP. From what I've read, it's not worth the trouble & $$ to fix. Dig a hole!

It can be cooling fan berings or color wheel motor bearings are bad.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

You need a new color wheel. Go to www.samsung.com and do some searches. I had to have someone come out and replace mine.

This can be the colour wheel assembly, or the servo drive board, or a fault on the circuit board that does the sync processing for the colour wheel.

You will have to have the set properly serviced.
