Microwave Fridigaire, model no. MWV150KBA, manufactured date: 9/09. Ths is my third frigidaire microwave in a little less in two years. Yesterday, 10/23/10, my son was heating something up. It worked, he closed the door and this humming noise started. It was like it was on, but not. At first we put up with the noise then realized after about 3 minutes, my microwave cover for plates, you leave in the microwave, was melting. Heat. So, for fire safety reasons we unplugged the microwave. What's up with Fridigaire products. My husband is calling them today, I'm just curious is this a frequent problem? What is causing this all of a sudden?

SOURCE: Frigidaire Professional series microwave won't heat

The most likely problem is the magnetron. Check your warranty in owners manual, I believe you have five year warranty on magnetron.

SOURCE: My Frigidaire over the stove microwave not heating food

Hi,It is most likely the magnetron and diode that has to be replaced. This job should be done by a tech, High voltage. Magnetron's normally have a five year warranty, check your owners manual.

SOURCE: My Microwave oven makes a loud buzzing noise and

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually on the right side of the cavity and is about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

In some models it is a larger stirrer cover type made of thicker plastic in the ceiling of the oven.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

It provides critical protection for the magnetron.

Your owner's manual may show you how to remove the cover.

SOURCE: My Frigidaire microwave is less than a year old.

The symptoms of loud noise and no heat indicate a short in the magnetron or high voltage diode. Need to take it to a qualified repair, to figure out what the problem. The magnetron replacement can cost as much as a new oven. See what the warranty covers, maybe you might luck out.

I have a frigidaire microwave model mwv150kba beep is to low you barely can hear it

The manual for model MWV150BKA is here but it does not discuss any adjustment of the beeper volume.

It may have gotten glitched. You might try a hard reset by unplugging the oven for a couple of minutes, plugging it back in, setting the clock, then trying it again.

How to unlock FMT118EPB

Hi rajnherc, thank you for your post!

Based off the information you have provided you would like to unlock your Frigidaire microwave, FMT118EPB. I was unable to locate any additional manuals for your microwave. If it is an older model, over 10 years old, manufacturers will not keep material on them. You may be able to perform a generic search online for any further information. Good luck. -Matt

Sounds like its running, but will not heat

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire microwave, model# MWV150KBA, sounds like it is running but will not heat. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.

Once power is restored, the first thing you will need to do is set the clock. You will do this by pressing the "Clock" button once for AM and twice for PM, enter in the time, and press the "Clock" button again.

Put a cup of water in for about a minute. If the water does not get warm, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose your microwave and determine why it is not heating. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

My microwave is about a year old. Turned it on to heat water and it was alot louder and did not heat. It had an unusual smell.

Chances are you have a shorted high voltage diode or bad magnetron, or possibly a bad high voltage transformer.

Most ovens have a one year parts and labor warranty, so if yours is less than a year old, according to the manufacturing date on the model number tag in or on the unit, consult your owner's manual to contact the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

My Kenmore 721.63259301 would not heat items up so I came here and saw the parts required and was just about to order them when I checked the online owners manual and found this. FULL FIVE-YEAR WARRANTY ON
THE MAGNETRON For five years from the date of purchase, if the
magnetron in this Kenmore microwave oven
fails due to a defect in material or workmanship,
Sears will repair it free of charge.
My microwave has a manufacture date of July 2009 so I will be taking it right to the closest Sears repair center for a free repair. I suggest everyone do the same.

I HAVE A FRIDIGAIRE MICROWAVE THAT WILL NOT COOK. THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SO DOES THE TIMER, BUT IT DOESN'T HEAT. ANY IDEAS?

Usually trouble in the HV circuit that runs the magnetron--CAUTION--about 3 to 5 thousand volts there when it works! May also be a bad door safety interlock switch.
