How do you turn up the heat on the dish washer drying cycle?

There is no way to turn up the heat of the dishwasher during the drying cycle. As part of the current ecological, energy-saving, environmentalist-wacko movement, dishwasher makers have cut back on the heating used to dry dishes. But you can do these things to help with drying:
1. It is imperative that you use rinse-aid (Jet-Dry). This allows more water to flow off the dishes and what flows off does not need to evaporate.
2. If the dishwasher has the options, turn on high-temperature wash and sani-rinse. This gets the dishes hotter for better evaporation during the dry cycle.
It is possible that the heater may not be working at all, and that will cause poor washing performance and no drying. That problem can be caused by a bad heating element, or by a bad controller.

The clean light won't go off and dishwasher won't wash dishes now

Your dishwasher will do this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water. Sometimes just a false reading.
Reset your console by pressing: high temp wash, heated dry, high temp wash, heated dry
When all the lights are on you are set in diagnostic mode. Just hit cancel a you will be able to run yourdishwasher as normal. If this same light appears again then you have a bad element or thermostat.

Our Whirlpool KUDP01ILBS2 dishwasher isn't working like it used to. Dishes seem to be getting partially clean, they aren't getting dry at all and it seems they may be being rinsed/washed with dirty...

Heat that is retained in the dishes is largely responsible for drying in this dishwasher. Since plastics do not retain heat very well, they will not dry as well as glasses, ceramics or metal dishes. Rinse aid must be used so that the final rinse water will sheen off of the dishes to accommodate this drying process. The heater element at the bottom of the tub is used to add heat during the drying cycle to aid in this process as well. This model of dishwasher does not have any forced air circulation system. Here are some tips that may help you resolve your drying problem:
  • Make sure that you are using rinse aid. Failure to properly use rinse aid can prevent proper drying. Adjust the amount that is dispensed if necessary. Also, check to make sure that rinse aid level decreases over time indicating that it is being dispensed properly.
  • The NORMAL WASH and POT & PANS cycles heat the final rinse water up to 140 degrees F. Use these cycles to help the drying process.
  • Do not choose the air dry option. This option cuts off the heater element during the drying process. NOTE: The heater element is not turned on during the first 6 minutes of the drying portion of the cycle.
  • Do not overload the dishwasher. Load the dishes to allow for proper water drainage.
This dishwasher has a heater fault detection circuit. If the heater is not working, the control will detect the lack of increase in water temperature. The dishwasher will stop and the CLEAN light will blink seven times repeatedly. The dishwasher would not be able to be used until the problem is corrected and the control is reset.

Indesit DI620UK Dishwasher fault

If the dry cycle has a problem, check these:

Heating element
Drying fan
Thermostat
Heating element Your dishwasher has an electrical heating element that helps to dry the dishes. If the element is burned out, the dishes won't dry properly, and you need to replace the element.

Drying fan Many high-priced dishwashers have a small fan that blows air or heated air into the dishwasher to speed up the drying process. If the fan is defective, you need to replace it.

Thermostat Some dishwashers have a thermostat that monitors the drying temperature. If the thermostat is defective, the heating element may not cycle on or off properly. If that's the problem, you need to replace the thermostat
