Model MDB 7600AWQ It is not cleaning dishes well and the bottom water 'slinger' is not rotating. We disassemble the lower assembly and cleaned extensive soap scum and hard water deposits. Lower slinger is still not rotating. Water temp and water level are fine. Pump is getting water to upper slinger and pumping water to drain between wash and rinse and after rinse.

Sometime there is a little dirty water left in the bottom and the dishes are dirty

Some models do not have a food grinder, only a food strainer to collect the larger chunks of food which may be partly blocked. the drain to the sink may be partly blocked.

Bottom water sprayer not spining

If the dishwasher won't clean dishes, check the lower wash arm assembly. If the lower wash arm isn't getting water, all of the dishes in the lower rack will come out dirty. Check to be sure the lower wash arm assembly spins freely. Also check to be sure the little holes in the lower wash arm aren't clogged or blocked.

Hello: I have a Kenmore Elite diswasher Model #665-16264402. It will not clean the dishes on the top rack much at all. To be honest it's not cleaning well on top or bottom! It has a built in filter,...

Hi, Colleen. Thanks for using fixya.com. I suspect the chopper may be plugged which would cause poor circulation and poor washing results. The chopper is located in the sump housing assembly and is #6 in the picture below. It is accessed by removing the lower spray arm and the filter assembly. Disassembly requires a T10 and T15 Torx screwdriver. Once disassembled, use the picture as a guide for locating the chopper and clean or replace as necessary. Part number is 8268383 and is available at www.appliancezone.com.

Dishes constantly come out dirty.. What temp should the water be while the dishwasher is running?

Supply water temperature should be above 120 degrees F for effective cleaning. Run hot water from your kitchen sink (your dishwasher should be tapped off the hot water line near your sink faucet) right before you start a dishwashing cycle to make sure it's as hot as it can be when the dishwasher begins filling. Also, during the wash cycle the heating elements at the bottom of the tub may turn on and warm the water further even if you select a "No Heat Dry" option causing a noticeable shot of steam to escape if you open the door during a cycle.
Note: I recently had a problem with our dishwasher (Frigidaire FDB834RFS0) causing dishes to come out dirty and the detergent dispenser to be left with undissolved detergent. Our problem happened to be caused by a partially clogged strainer in the water supply valve. (I would imagine Whirlpool most likely has some kind of filter/strainer in its water valve as well.) When the supply valve was commanded to open for some time, I noticed the water level in the tub would barely be visible below the lower spray arm. After cleaning out the strainer (required removing and disassembling the water supply valve) the water level was noticeably higher -- almost at the bottom of the float or about an inch below the heating elements. Our dishes and the detergent dispenser are now clean.
If your water supply is ok, I would next check to make sure your spray arms do not have any plugged holes and that they rotate freely. Also, use a good quality detergent and a rinse aid. We prefer liquid Cascade and Jet Dry. We have had problems with old, stale, or really thick liquid detergents and by getting a fresh jug have solved the dirty dish dilemma.
Make sure to clean out the filter basket at the bottom of the basin below the lower spray arm occasionally as it can clog and cause the pump to starve due to lack of water. If the pump can't get a supply of water to pump to the spray arms and nozzles, your dishes will not get sprayed evenly and you will end up with them being poorly cleaned.
Hope this helps you out...good luck!

My dishwasher was not getting the dishes clean, so i started taking the lower end apart to clean, got to a gray wheel looking object with a screw in the top which was recessed and still the wheel looking...

If there is still standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher, remove it with a wet vac then look for the missing screw. It might be in the vac.

If no luck, try using a good small stick magnet to retrieve the screw. These screws are usually stainless steel, but the alloy is in the low 300 series so they are still slightly magnetic.

If you pull the slinger/impeller, you may need to replace the pump/slinger mechanical seal, so proceed carefully.

The seals that the racks "plug" into need replaced. Ours had the same issue and replaced the seals and it works fine now.

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes on top rack

Check the riser tube coming from the pump assembly and be sure it isn't blocked or that something else isn't obstructing the pump intake area. Make sure the upper wah arm assembly isn't excessively loose on the spindle and losing pressure because it's leaking. You may have to remove the lower rack, lower wash arm and cover to see.

If everything is clear, it could be a worn or damaged pump impeller. If the machine drains normally, it's not the motor.

Dirty dishes on lower rack

Please confirm that you own an LG LDF7811 dishwasher and it is not cleaning properly.
-Are you getting any error codes displayed? -Did you remove the mesh filter and clean any debris beneath it plus rinse out the filter itself?
-Are you using a name brand diswashing powder? Avoid ultra-cheap detergent, especially in water-conserving units like the LG 7811. Never use DW gel or tablets in any dishwasher.
-Do not over rinse the dishes before placing them in the DW. The food granules actually are used to clean all the dishes before being rinsed away.
Please try these suggestions and reply to this message with what worked best and if the problem continues. Good Luck!

MDB7600AWS No Rinsing

Sound like you are recycling the same filthy water over and over again. Your dishes will likely become progressively more and more filthy.

One likely problem is that debris has clogged the small drain ports.

Most Maytag D/Ws rely on a garburator to chop debris small enough to fit through these small ports. Unfortunately a chuck of glass or fruit pit often makes it through to clog the ports. This may cause very slow and incomplete drainage or no drainage whatsoever.

To examine these drain ports, you'll need to remove the lower rack and completely disassemble the central assembly from the top down. If you are mechanically inclined its not hard. If you are worried about proper re-assembly, then video tape the assembly as a memory aid and stack the parts and screws in careful succession.

Once you reach the steel garburator blade you only have one more plastic plate to remove. Examine both ports on the plate to ensure that there is no jam or debris. Throughout the disassembly, look for any broken glass or debris that could be jamming or clogging.

When you reassemble the unit, consider reassembling without the garburator blade. Instead, perform routine disassembly and cleaning every 3 - 6 months.
