In the market, we can find a lot of saws and it will do our desired work. If you are a woodcutter then a track saw will help you. A track saw is a handheld circular saw, on the other hand, a circular saw is one kind of power saw which helps to cut woods or any material. We can use track saw and circular saw for cutting woods and other materials like tile, brick. But there is a difference between them. We have to know what is Track Saw vs Circular Saw. see the difference between them given below.
Track Saw vs Circular Saw Lets Have a quick look into these A user uses a saw for different cutting purposes circular saw and track saw is one of them. The track saw is used for cutting woods and circular saw also used for cutting woods too But both of them are used for different purposes.

Circular Saw

We use a circular saw for cutting woods and it uses a round blade lined sharp metal blade. A circular saw is used for cutting woods, plastic, metal, and masonry. Circular saw is an electrical saw and it runs through electricity. There are some things in a circular saw and they are-
  • An on/off switch
  • A handle and upper guard
  • A cutting blade and lower blade guard
Safety Procedure Circular saw is a powerful tool and it is dangerous too. A user must wear safety equipment while using this circular saw. Moreover, this tool can produce a lot of dust so better is use masks for it. We have to hold the saw perfectly with both hands so that it will not move from the place.
If you have enough time then you may go through the article- Top Circular saw Buying Guide.

Track Saw

The track saw is a handheld circular saw and this helps a user to cut logs accurately. A track saw can cut any log faster than a circular saw because they are lightweight and portable. The layer on a track saw creates an effective dust trap and also doesn't just enclose the blade.
The track saw is suitable in any situation because of its rubber strips at the bottom. It is easy to cut and no need for measurement and it can make a big cut into small pieces.
The Benefit of Track Saw
  • A track saw is easy to move
  • Smooth and clean cuts
  • Long meters for cutting any objects
Mainly a track is easy to move from one place to another place and it will give a user smooth and clean cuts than other saws in the market. Easy to cut no measurement needs to cut a log or any material just line it up and cut it. No guesswork or measurement is needed to cut woods.
Should a User Choose a Track or Circular Saw? A track saw and circular saw both of them these are using for cutting any material or woods or a tile or metal and plastic things. The track saw is one kind of circular saw which is portable and easy to use than a circular saw.
A circular saw is a powerful and electrical saw. The user has to be careful while using this saw because any single mistake can risk his life. So if a user loves to use a handheld saw then he should go for a track saw and if he wants a powerful saw then he should go for a circular saw.

Circular Vs TrackSaw

Track saw and circular saw both of them use a circular blade but track saw blades are less uncover. The major and main difference between them is one is easy to move another is complex to move. Another difference is track saw provides a better cut and smooth performance than a circular saw.
Circular saw creates more dust than a track saw because in a track saw a dust filter contain on it(track saw). The circular saw is best for construction purposes because it can give you the best performance than a track saw. If you are going to cut lumber or a tree on a roof than a circular saw can help you better than a track saw.
So better is if a user wants to use a portable lightweight saw than track saw is better for him. But if he wants to use a saw that provides more facility than circular saw is for him.

Final Words Both of this saw is perfect for cutting wood or any kind of material. A track saw is portable and lightweight on the other hand a circular saw is more powerful than any other saw. You can carry a track saw with you in your shoulder but can't carry a circular saw with you.
So if you want a lightweight saw then track is for you or if you want a powerful saw then circular saw is for you.

Saw stops when i start cutting 1/2 plywood.

If it actually binds and stops the motor...... it sounds like the motor is bad, the bearings are bad, or the blade is on backwards. If the motor keeps spinning, but the blade stops then the gears are bad or the blade bolt is not tight.

I bought a ls1016 coupond mitre saw this week. I was cutting cedar 2x6 's today and had a few kick backs. I am building my deck and do not feel safe using the saw after the kick backs. Why as this...

Sounds as if the blade is dull. Or perhaps bent. A dull or bent blade blade will 'grab' the wood, rather than cut it, resulting in binding, or kickbacks.

Solution; replace the blade with a fine-toothed, good quality blade. If the blade is new, then check that the blade is bolted tight on the arbor. If the blade is loose, it can result in kickbacks.

Also, check that all the bolts/fasteners/locking mechanisms on the saw are tight, and in good working order. Sometimes a tool new out-of-the-box will have loose screws/nuts/bolts that need to be tightened up.

Also, when cutting, use a smooth, slow, motion, being sure to give the saw the time it needs to make the cut.

Not cutting through wood. Cuts are diminishing.

Sounds like the wood your cutting through is to hard for your battery powered saw....try one with a cord they work much better, especially for hardwood's.

When cutting with my husky 440 16'' the chain catches or stops

It's hard to say. 41CCs should handle a 16" chain reasonably well.
  1. What are you cutting? Hard woods oak and maple are more difficult than pine.
  2. Are you digging in the dogs and trying to force the saw through the wood? Let the saw determine how fast it wants to cut, I rarely engage the dogs on my 359, I let the weight of the saw work for me.
  3. How sharp is your chain? Have the rakers been filed to low?
  4. Is the saw bogging down at speed before contacting the wood?
  5. Your saw was set extremely lean to meet EPA requirements. It is fitted with adjustment limiters also mandated by the EPA. To lean can impact how it performs.
All of these and few not coming to mind effect how fast the saw cuts. This isn't the answer you wanted but it is honest. We would have to see you cut and examine your saw to provide anything better. HTH

Cover will not come up to cut wood

K looked at a breakdown for this tool and it sounds like you are missing a shoulder bolt or roller with bolt that attaches to the lever. Try pulling the guard up by hand (unplug saw first) and watch the side where the cover is for the movement of the lever. Try and locate where it is jumping or the missing part. You can look at the same breakdown at Searspartsdirect.com and by typing in your model number it will come up. It is not really that clear but you will get some idea how the lever/guard work. Let me know if you still have trouble

Grinder question

Use a pencil and straight edge to mark the cutting line on the wood. Place the wood on the saw table and line the mark up with the saw. Place the mark on the right side of the blade to ensure proper cutting. Plug the saw in and put on your safety goggles. Support the wood on the work surface with your left hand, placing it far from the saw blade. Place your right hand on the handle, and push the trigger to start the saw. Move the saw blade down onto the wood. Put constant pressure on the handle to slowly move the blade through the wood. Release the trigger and raise the blade once the cut is complete. Make diagonal cuts in the same manner, by marking the wood and lining the mark up just to the right of the saw blade. Continue as you would for a straight cut. Remove the wood from the saw. Unplug the chop saw and dust the sawdust off. Remove the dust bag from the back and empty it. Vacuum any remaining dust off of the saw.
