Do you own a professional type scan tool ? Would need to see if the instrument cluster can communicate with scan tool . That would be a priority . If the instrument cluster ,for some reason wouldn't be talking,checking power an ground for the cluster . Batteries going dead , changing batteries without a alternative power supply can cause modules to go to sleep permanently ! Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems I'am not saying that's what happen to your's . 2003 to 2006 GM had cluster problems ! The solder use in the cluster caused silver migration , instrument cluster caused a drain on the battery overnight . Watch these videos !
You have a random electrical short in the system and it is on the acc. side of your ignition system.Systems such as interior lights, glovebox light, brake lights, memory circuits for onboard computer, radio and some aftermarket components. Without me being able to see your car it is very hard to determine the cause. First determine that the battery is dead. Its possible that the battery cables have a bad connection, not at the battery but at the starter sol. or the battery cable ground connection on the engine. Clean these connections to see if you fixed it. If not then after that you will need to remove the poss. battery cable take a volt ohm meter and put the black lead to the poss. post of the battery and the red lead to the cable, set the meter to 10 amps BEFORE you hook it up. Then wate until all systems have timed out when this happens the needle will drop. If not then you have a direct short. If it does drop it should drop to less then 2 amps (that is normal) if it is above that you have a drain on the battery. Before you start this test make sure the key is out of the ign. then remove the interior light fuse that way you can open the doors without resetting the timers. Watch the meter and remove one fuse at a time, if the needle drops then that is the circuit that is giving you the trouble. Find out what that fuse controls and repair as needed. Hope this helps. The battery is probably dead. There is a guy on ebay that is replacing them. He fixed mine and it works great. The batteries dont last forever and you cannot just buy them they are a special type, also viper suggests you buy a new remote for $299 because they do not replace the batteries... how convenient. Hopefully that helps.
Well, to begin with, the LAST thing I would replace if a vehicle died going down the highway is the starter. What caused the engine to die? It certainly was not the starter! If the starter will not crank the engine over, you probably have a dead battery. If your battery went dead while driving the vehicle down the road, you most likely have a bad alternator. However, it is really hard to say without actually being able to see the car.
Make sure you have new batteries.
Make sure batteries are in the correct way.
It is easy to put them in backwards and not realize it, so triple check everything.
People also, quite often, have batteries in a drawer and think they are new, when they actually are not.
Also, make sure little red LED that sends the signal is not blocked or pushed into the remote.
Make sure receiver sensor on fan is not blocked from the remote's signal.
