Hi, the AC adapter connects through a wire that hangs out of one of the legs. You can see the complete instructions, including a diagram, in the owner's manual, which you can download from Fisher Price:

try looking at the stand that holds the swing, when you put it together maybe you missed some cords that would only connect together that do not plug into the wall.

My rainforest sounds swing j8518 doesn't make any sounds and the mobile doesn't move

If you have registered your product, and you contact Fisher Price, they will send you a replacement top - this will include the motor and mobile (with leaves). The A/C adapters and connection cords may also be to blame - these are common problems with this swing. We have had pieces of ours replaced many times - always free of charge from Fisher Price.

There are 2 more wires that are available on the top left of the swing. You need to connect them together for the ac adaptor to work.
